I saw a post about thrusters and just remembered the only and major flaw with it: it doesn’t keep momentum while you’re using it. When you use it midair and moving the game acts like you stopped and just tapped the button when you should be propelled further. If they modeled the grapple hook’s momentum properly they should update thrusters to do so too.
Agreed. Momentum rules should be consistently applied, and things that accelerate the player don’t need a built in decelerate button. The game has one already, it’s called the map.
Thrust in air = ballistic arc until you hit something or land.
Thrust on ground = move x meters.
Would also be cool if you could jump out of a thrust to keep momentum the same way you can with slides.
I don’t want it changed. I quite like that Thrusters in Infinite work as “player displacement” rather than momentum based mobility. It’s a good middle ground between H4 and H5’s Thrusters.
I don’t care for jetting all over the place, and it helps me land Jump + Thrust ninjas much easier if it doesn’t have added momentum.
I agree. Would be more fun if following the thrust with a slide or jump would keep your momentum a little longer. Especially in the campaign.
Honestly, repulsor jumping is more of a thruster than the thruster.
I also feel like the thruster should have faster recharge so it is a better in-between with the grapplehook and standard movement.
Thrusters are more like a situational sidestep than anything. If it could propel you upwards and sideways it would be too similar to the repulsor I think
I know, and my issue isn’t with the (lack of) verticality, that’s what the repulsor is for, yes. What I mean is that the dash doesn’t send you anywhere far or fast enough to be useful. The player you are trying to evade can still lock onto you pretty fast. You buy yourself maybe .5 of a second. I feel like the distance and speed themselves are fine, but the recharge is so slow, that it doesn’t matter. But you use the grapple hook or repulsor the same way, by the time you’ve reoriented yourself, you can just go again. As much as I love them, they are a bit spammy.
Thrusters are definitely the worst pieces of equipment if the drop wall wasn’t able to block explosives. It would be nice if they had a momentum boost at least they’d be more popular to use with it.
