Request: Test Anniversary Settings In Current Team Classic

Provided that the TU is being released next week and the beta hopper 2 weeks later with a custom gametype being shared between then, I request that the Anniversary settings be tested in the current Team Classic playlist.

The community effort to get the Classic Gametype settings into matchmaking was monumental(when it comes to the working together on a forum). When it was first implemented the settings were less than ideal and the gameplay was severely flawed b/c of oversights made by Jeremiah that was brought up beforehand. It was a rocky start and many people did not like the playlist b/c of the broken settings. The settings have since been adopted exactly as the community has had it and now it provides the most traditional gameplay that we can get given the settings we have at our disposal. The problem is that many people are still unaware that there is a v2 of the playlist and it is not the nightmare it was when it first launched.

To avoid another rocky start it is best to test the settings before a “final” release. It happened before and it is unwise to think it will not happen again. Not only will it ensure direct community feedback on how to make the settings better but it will provide a means for players to enjoy the settings as well as hyping themselves up for when the actual Anniversary playlist will launch in November. This would also be a good opportunity to manage the playlist by adding and replacing some maps in the rotation as well as getting a feel on how to manage the Anniversary playlist.

Yes please. And while they’re at it, please reduce AR starts in the playlist (unless it’s a 3SK pistol). AR starts were put in (I assume) to allow to the “less skilled” to still have fun, but it ended up just turning off those who wanted the “classic” feel, while the “less skilled” didn’t want to touch it anyway. Ultimately this had the opposite intended effect and reduced it’s population more than if it was solely rifle starts. At this point all that playlist has going for it is the 6SK NR and the player movement IMO. Even then, it’s still one of my favorite.

That and mini nukes, are actually nukes thanks to the damage increase.

sorry, were not allowed to have nice things, just a continuous stream of -Yoink-.

It would be nice, but I doubt it happens. I’d be fine with just putting a couple of remakes in the beta hoppers instead. I’d prefer just the no bloom playlist and maybe some CE magnum to go along with it. I wouldn’t want to play even a hint of Reach gameplay on these classic maps.

Damn, I wanted to ask this…

I would still like to get my hands on a few gametypes (one with 25% bloom, one with 40% bloom one with 50% bloom, and one with 75% bloom) so I can test out which would work more for a CE gametype. I’m guessing it will be between 25 and 50%, but I want to see how much 75% changes it.

I’m going to have to go ahead and disagree with all the hypotheses as to why Team Classic has a low population, but I’ll support the idea to use it as a testing bed for the new options. It’ll give us a better 1:1 idea of how many people there actually are that care about “classic” gameplay.

Sure would be nice.

This is actually the best idea i have heard in a long while.

Classic is one of my favourite playlists, but grenades and the AR are a big issue.

Please do this 343!
