I wanted to make a forum post to request a potential feature that I think a lot of people would find useful in Infinite. I think there should be an option to remap each button/function on a controller in the console and PC version of Infinite instead of just having to pick between a handful of predetermined controller layouts. One reason why I’m asking for this is b/c I’ve been playing other shooters for awhile, mainly Destiny and Destiny 2, and I’ve really gotten used to the default controller layout for that game, then when I recently went back to the Halo games after they got added to PC, I found it difficult to get used to the controller layout in those games. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think I’m the only one who wants this to be a potential option, I mean, the option to remap keyboard and mouse functions has been a thing for a long time, so shouldn’t it be time for it to be an option for controllers too?
Sure there’s the option to remap buttons in the Xbox Accessories app, but that doesn’t really let you remap all the buttons, at least not that I know of. Including this option could also help people with reflex disabilities too. I don’t know if it would be easy to implement this or not, so I’m not going to assume that it’s something that could be implemented by a flip of a switch, I just think it would be a helpful option to have for people who play on console and for the people who can’t use MnK on PC and can only use a controller.
Let me know what you think.
I think you should just check others set ups, i played (and still play) destiny and d2 and i find out that h5’ s default set up it’ s D2’ s penultimate set up. And also check out XA app, you can remap your buttoms in many ways.

I still don’t think that’s an excuse not to include the option to remap buttons on a controller. If the option is available for mouse and keyboard, then why can’t the same option be available for controller. Yes, it’s able to be done using outside software for controllers, but it should be an option in game if you ask me.

You can actually remap Xbox controller buttons within the Xbox itself. I know you’ve mentioned that in your original post but i can’t see super custom controllers being something they add considering how few people use them

More and more console games are adding full controller remapping, and I understand why. When you get used to a button setup on one game that doesn’t exist on another it can be kind of a pain in the butt to get used to it every time you pop in another game. There is the option to remap buttons on your controller, but again that comes at a cost. If you remap LB to LStick for instance, like I do in Halo MCC, tabbing through menus instantly becomes much more annoying. And then if you forget you left your controller remapped, as soon as you load up another game you have to go back into your Xbox settings, back into the device menu, and then reassign your buttons again. I’m just glad with the Elite controller I can instantly toggle between 4 presets at the press of a button, but not everyone has that.

Ah yeah for sure, the elite controller is the way to go.
Ever since I picked one up I’ve never gone back.
For customisation in controllers it’s the king
Definitely should be a thing. I don’t know why button binding isn’t a standard yet for every shooter.
