Request for more Control options

I’d like to make a (relatively) simple request to 343i, perhaps for when all the matchmaking issues have died down a bit. Can we get a little more optionality in the Controls?

All I ask is the possibility to have Crouch = hold LS AND Melee = RB. Right now, if I want Melee = RB, I have to live with Crouch = B, which is rather useless for actually, you know, crouching around (meanwhile, the LS click is nothing, so how hard would it be to make that Crouch?). And if I want Crouch on the LS, I have to live with Melee at B, which adds that millisecond delay when actually trying to melee someone.

This is minor, I know. The problem is that I was comfortable with Melee being B for CE, 2 and 3, but then got used to it being RB for Reach and 4 (and prefer it this way now, for obvious reasons). Crouch isn’t nearly as important in Reach and 4, so I didn’t care that it was in a useless place (B). But now that MCC is here, I can’t keep these damn controls straight from game to game.

Please and thank you.

How about some key binding or whatever it would be called on a controller. That way we wouldn’t have these issues. That’s assuming 343 would be competent with programming though, which they’ve shown that they obviously aren’t.

Bumpity bump bump.

I’ve never understood why they created only a few universal controller schemes rather than letting us bind them any way we want. This was available in the first Killzone on PS2, but has never been available in a Halo title.

I started playing Halo with Halo 4, then went back and played the others. I like the Halo 4 Boxer layout, but the Halo 2 boxer has grenade on B, which completely breaks my muscle memory.

Also the halo 5 default scheme would be nice since I also use that in destiny.

Crouch was LS on Reach (B was change grenades). They moved it to B when they wanted sprint + an armor ability, so sprint was moved to LS. So what you are asking for is essentially Halo: Reach controls. I’m not sure if this would be possible to make a universal scheme, as Halo 4 would have sprint in a weird spot. I second this motion, because I thought Reach had the best control scheme. I am used to Halo 4’s controls now, so I probably wouldn’t use it, but nonetheless, I thought it was a great scheme, and I think others would love having this option.

The Halo 5 schemes appear to be exactly the same as Halo 4, with the slight change that “armour ability” turned into “jet pack”.

Custom key binding seems so obvious but given that they couldn’t even get their pre-programmed controls to work (legacy), I don’t have much hope for this.
