Request: Continue Further MCC Development Past 2022

It was recently announced that MCC might be getting micro-transactions. If this HAS to happen, wouldn’t it make sense to use that for funding further development? Currently, MCC is about just as popular as Halo Infinite, if not more so. There’s a loyal playerbase that would still be excited for new updates. It doesn’t make much sense to abandon it. Here are some suggestions that I know have been requested by many people:

  • More maps ported from Halo Online
  • Netcode improvements for Halo 2 Classic
  • New Cosmetics for Halo 2 Classic
  • Campaign crossplay in all games
  • Spartan Ops Matchmaking
  • New maps for Halo 2 Anniversary
  • Halo 2 Anniversary Campaign Elites usable in multiplayer
  • The Specter for H2A Multiplayer
  • Halo Custom Edition maps officially put into matchmaking for Halo CE
  • The Wraith usable in Halo CE. It’s easily possible with mods and works perfectly
  • Weapon & Vehicle skins in Halo Reach
  • Skulls usable in custom games for all games, not just H2C

And I’m sure there’s more. Those are just some off the top of my head.

Unless there is something I’m missing, the tiny population of MCC paying for microtransactions will not come close to meeting budget requirements on a game like Halo.

Then they shouldn’t add them at all in that case. It’s purely anti-consumer.

They shouldn’t be added period, support or not. From my perspective it seems like 343 was banking on Infinite to generate enough revenue to support all the studio’s projects. Given how aggressively monetized the game was, and how quickly the reduced the prices Im going to take a guess that not a lot of people bit the bullet for their favorite cat ears. Given Infinite’s inability to really capture an audience it seems like 343 is considering alternative options via the MCC which is also another poor attempt. They manufactured the problem that the micro transactions intend to solve, when really the rate of Spartan points needs to be increased.

If they want more funding then makes more sense to make worthwhile content within MCC like ‘new’ campaign using the older engine. I’m not going to find a way to rationalize MT in a game collection that never had any to begin with.

Adding a few maps isn’t going to be enough to get people playing in the long term. If they want more players I’d suggest using something like Halo 2A or other engines to make a ‘Warzone’ sized maps like in Halo 5 then add in a scarab…

If they add any MT then they may as well class the multiplayer as F2P and we all know how badly that happened with Infinite…

At the end of the day MCC needs to sell as a product and the best way to do that is find a ‘catch’ that gets people talking about the game in a good way and MT is more like a ‘red flag’.

This! I do my best to avoid any games with microtransactions, Halo 5 so far being the only exception as I enjoy it’s multiplayer and custom games, but if I see MTX in a AAA title my first thought is:

“Ok so this game is going to release unfinished and barely playable and remain that way for the majority of it’s lifespan while the devs try to make excuses without actually fixing the problems.”

MTX in any AAA title should be a signal to NOT even give the game a chance as you’ll just be continued to be suckered in.
