Request: Add Halo 5 to MCC

Adding Halo 5 to MCC would be a bad idea. I know I hate H5 but the thing is adding them would mean forcing MT to MCC and MT’s do not belong in classic Halo collection ever. Plus MCC is at it’s limit for game engines.

If 343i want to bring it to PC that badly then they should just focus on a standalone game. There is no benefit to shoving it onto MCC since all it will do is annoy most fans and break the game while increasing the download file size.

There are more important things that should be focused on like better support for Steam Deck and improving the quality of life of the game for the long term.

Technically Halo 5 is already on PC in a way so they should just finish that game and just release it as ‘full’ game on Steam.

Storage is an issue though, not from a consumer standpoint but from a production standpoint, you may not get it but the large portions of data have to vibe with the whole package or it can completely cripple the infrastructure of the game.

H5 should be released by itself

For the millionth time, it’s not going to happen. Halo 5: Guardians is by far the most hated Halo game ever released, and with good reason. It’s the only game in the entire franchise that has RNG microtransactions and pay-2-win game modes.

For 343 to incorporate the game into MCC, 343 would have to completely gut the REQ system and incorporate all of the unlockables in Halo 5: Guardians into the current economy of Spartan Points, the Catalog, and the Exchange. Cosmetic items like armor and weapon skins would be pretty straightforward, but REQ items for Warzone like special weapons, vehicles, and perks would be a massive hurdle to overcome.

And even if they could do that, would it even be worth it? Halo 5: Guardians’ Arena mode is a sweaty clusterfrick of players sprinting around like headless chickens looking for free Spartan Charge kills and Magnum spam.

Warzone doesn’t stand out from Big Team Battle in any meaningful way, and tends to boil down to whichever team has the best REQs.

Warzone Firefight is hands down the worst PvE experience ever added to a Halo game, with no customization options, no offline play, no option for single-player, and unbalanced difficulty with hordes of bullet-sponge aimbot enemies.

Then there’s the file size. All 100 gigs of it. Almost double the current size of MCC with all content installed, just for one game that is disliked by the majority of players.

I’d rather 343 focus on upgrading the classic Halo games than waste their limited time and resources on a game that only a small niche of players will even care enough to play. There’s still a lot 343 can do with the 6 games already in the collection, like adding AI bots to multiplayer a la Halo: Infinite, or porting weapons and vehicles between different Halo games for Xbox players as modders have been doing on PC, to say nothing of adding full mod support for consoles a la Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition.

Agree, full stop. H5 on Xbox Series X only clocks in at around 46GB. For comparison my H4 on MCC PC is 30GB. I think they could probably further shrink the game substantially by cutting out the more controversial bits (req packs for one). H5: Forge from the Microsoft Store is only 31GB and includes a lot of the MP core. As a start that app could simply be consolidated under MCC, and would bring at the very least the ability to play H5 through the Custom Games Browser. I don’t think anyone would argue that an extra 30-45GB would break the bank when you consider the full game is already at 125GB used on Steam anyway… Plus again, Just Don’t Download It if you can’t afford the extra space, ja feel?
