I don’t mind JIP and think it’s better than the old system where I’d be forced to play 1 v 4 for the remainder of a match but would it be possible to put people into gametypes that they like?
You could keep a record of people’s voting preferences and JIP them into maps/gametypes that they regularly vote for in the lobby.
For instance, I like Infintiy settings in BTB, but every now and then I get JIP’d into a Big Team Battle gametype which I don’t enjoy. Forcing people to play gametypes they don’t enjoy is not a very clever way of retaining players.
I wouldn’t mind so much but you also doubly penalise players by having the threat of a ban hanging over them if they decide to quit out of the JIP gametype they didn’t want to play.
