So being a big Halo fan since Halo 2, and Halo 3 being my first online game, I’m pretty disappointed with the way Halo 5 handles the armour unlocking (btw I know there was no unlockable armour in Halo 2 but anyways…), I know I’m not the only one who thinks this so I want to hear some of you guys suggestions on how 343 can learn from their mistakes for Halo 6.
I remember the good ol’ days in Halo 3 when I first saw the recon armour and straight away I was in love with it, it blew my mind, and that was before the vidmaster achievements so I was trying to find all sorts of ways at unlocking it, but then the vidmaster achievements came along and I knew just what I had to do, I got through every achievement with some help from my friends and out of all my friends I was the first to unlock that sweet sweet recon, I was so happy I had achieved my goal. Ever since then I’ve used recon armour in every other Halo game, even preordered reach to get the special recon helmet so I could use it from the start. But now a month into my Halo 5 experience and I am yet to unlock my favourite armour, despite the default variant being a common armour to unlock, I can’t begin to describe how disappointed I am with 343s decision to include armour in the randomness of the req system, armour should be unlockable by achieving certain goals, getting achievements or completing Commendations like in past Halo games. It just doesn’t seem fair that they’ve left the customisation options down to luck, it’s gonna take me ages to unlock recon through grinding the req system, I’m not gonna pay money for the chance that I could get every armour except recon in some gold packs, that’s the only armour I want and there’s over 200 other types.
Is there anything you’d like to add to this discussion? A solution to this problem for Halo 6 or if we’re lucky enough a decent update in Halo 5 that will allow us to have more customisation options (though that’s very unlikely), or maybe there’s an armour type that you’re desperately still trying to get, if so let us know, 343 usually have people reading these forums, let’s get our voices heard and let them know that as much as a good idea the req system looked on paper, it simply does not fit well with our expectations for spartan customisation… Also WE WANT TO PLAY AS ELITES 343!!!
yeah man, i was planning to use the engineer chest from the start as i wore it in halo 4 and the mcc, but alas it ended up becoming the last uncommen i unlocked after most the dlc came out, but honestly by this time i settled, rng will allways be a sin to me

I’ve not long got an xbox one, Halo 5 and MCC are the only games I have for it so far, they’re the only games I need lol, but I’m over level 40 now and I’ve unlocked 2 dmrs (which I heard a lot of people complaining that it’s taken them absolutely ages to unlock even 1) and I’m still trying to unlock a friggin common level req armour, I don’t even mind so much about the other recon variants, yeah I’d like to unlock them just for customisation but I’d happily stick with the standard one for however long it takes me to unlock the ultra rare version, but it’s so stupid, it doesn’t feel like I’m being rewarded when I unlock new armour because it’s not the armour I actually want, I worked so hard unlocking recon in Halo 3, Halo reach was easy enough, just had to preorder it, and in Halo 4 recon was unlockable pretty early on so that was fine, and now I’m stuck with this problem.

Everyone agrees with you! I think random req packs are great for power weapons and vehicles. Armors and emblems should all have a challenge associated with unlocking them. Its annoying to work hard to achieve a feat in Halo, such as beating the game LASO, and not getting an armor to show off your feat.
It feels like I will never get the hunter armor
