REQs aren't really the RNG we all know and hate.

I keep seeing people say “You get armor by luck.” But thats not really true, you can however get it early by luck. At some point, for rares and below and mythics and below, you are guaranteed the armor you want, but you probably will get it early. Point is, its only random up to a certain point. All armor has a maximum REQ point requirement, which makes it similar to Reach’s credit system, Halo 4 rank, or even some armor tied to Halo 3s EXP system.

The real problem is that its only a grind, like Achilles… Its not difficult or rewarding, its just long and tedious and not very impressive at all… unless your impressed with dedication. So the REQ system isn’t ideal, but its still similar to how you achieved some armor in previous games. The MCC exclusives were a good idea, but more need to be tied to Halo 5 challenges. Achilles is still a grind just like the REQ system.

However, the REQ system doesn’t annoy me much because I had problems with Halo 3s unlock system as well… like the very situational achievements for getting a Kilimanjaro or something. What I really hate about the REQ system is the single use cards and the terrible armor.

If you’ve ever tried to get a Gjallarhorn on Destiny then you know what true RNG is, and you should be thankful for what we have.

In this game, you don’t get repeats normally. So, you just keep unlocking stuff. I unlocked all from REQs in 2015. (Not counting new updates but I unlock that stuff too).

I think the REQ can be improved in some ways but overall I do like it.

Yeah, it just takes some dedication. So anyone who plays plenty of Halo should have no problem.

But the REQ system is still the worst system yet, they should get rid of it. At least its not true RNG though.

I will give the halo 5 req system credit, at least it doesn’t give duplicates of permanent unlocks like armor, load out weapons, stances ,and emblems. Unlike black ops 3, the req system does at least that much, and it also provides req/xp boosts to allow players a chance to earn extra points towards req packs. While I do respect other people’s opinion on req packs, they have their ups and downs no less. I personally think it’s a decent concept given that it is halos’ first supply drop system.

Maybe its not that bad, but I am never going to like it and definitely am NOT going to THANK 343 for it.

I think maybe change something with armour and stuff? So some of that stuff is different maybe? A few improvements could be done but I like it.

Also recently… Anyone been getting a lot of boosts…? I feel like recently I’ve gotten so many boosts that I have like 53 RP jackpots for warzone.

i quite like the req system

So true RNG is the worst yet?

I wish there were req packs that guaranteed customization/loadout unlocks and separate packs that guaranteed non-customization unlocks, even if they cost more to buy. That’d let people work toward their own interests more. Not everyone likes Warzone, so not everyone likes seeing power weapons.

I was very dedicated to getting all the stuff… now after 600 hours and £100 ( god please forgive me for my sin )I finally have them all… well the ones that the REQ packs offer anyway.
Its a tedious journey buut very rewarding nearer to the end. Silver packs are the worst. When you get to golds it gets better. In my opinion anyway.

I don’t think it’s completely RNG. If I start using a weapon in WZ that I don’t use very much, often times I’ll notice I’ll start getting that weapon in my REQ packs.

Flashback to Destiny I got my Gjally from a random strike. Thats the only time RNG ever loved me.

I never really cared if the REQ system was RNG or not. I just know that it never gives me what I want and I hate it for that. I want more Mantises, I get more Tanks. I want more Tanks, I get more Tundra Scout Warthogs, I want more Banshees, I get more Tundra Mongeeses.

RNG is lovable and hateable at the same time. Sometimes you got something that will satisfy you a lot, or you got something you didn’t want at all. Be glad that both Halo 5 and Destiny can allow you to sell/dismantle unwanted items for credits/materials. Just accept what is randomly earned.

But yeah. It is a grind when trying to get new stuff from RNG based systems.

I’m nearly at 100%, need to open 20ish more gold packs and should if I am lucky be completely up to date before the next update. I personally LOVE the req system but there are glaring opportunities for improvement. I would welcome the return of some armors that unlock because you have done certain challenges etc. That is one thing about the system I find is missing. It could be cool if perhaps you unlock armor through req packs but unlock customization options for that armor through gameplay, just like a spartan might customize their own armor (take Jorge as an example). That way even though you have the same armor on as the next guy you could look different. It would add some personality to multiplayer.

They should have Warzone packs and Cosmetic packs as separate options.

Bitter. At least you didn’t xurn it.

I don’t really see how there is any way to love it. Its not the worst but all the other systems were better. But it does really need some improvements.

The RP boosts are so much fun for us that have already unlocked everything. lol
I’ll take XP boosts in a heartbeat tho.

So we should be “thankful” that our crappy RNG isn’t as bad as the biggest video game scams in recent memory…Okay…got it.
Terrible comparison.

As for you having issues with Halo 3’s armor progression system that is fine an honest opinion. As far as raw enjoyment for the game goes I think H3s armor unlocks were the best in any Halo. Some of them were tough to unlock, for example Recon or Hayabusa. IMO it’s better to earn your items gauranteed, than to hope you get the thing you want through some randomized pack system.

Both systems add a lot more hours of playtime for the gamer and require patience, but one makes money and the other doesn’t.

And one requires much more patience than the other.
Its RNG on purpose in order to make you impatient and spend money on it.

Well, its not a terrible comparison. I’m stating that the REQ system isn’t quite “killer” RNG as in the example. Scams have nothing to do with the conversation. Also I was saying you should be a little relieved, not entirely fine with the system, your taking my thankful part a little too far.

Anyways, agreed on the second paragraph.

Agreed on the third except I got everything without money, just takes playing and loving Halo.
