All they confirmed was no "PAID" loot boxes. That does not confirm no REQs though, there could still be an RNG REQ system in Halo Infinite, or none at all. The boat’s still out on that one.
They said there’d be no real money loot boxes. Doesn’t mean they won’t add an in game purchasable currency though. Honestly, if 343 wants to fit in and follow trends then the one game they should look to in this catagory is CoD Warzone. I know people hate comparing Halo and CoD in any way, shape, or form, but realistically speaking there are a few things they could learn from them that doesn’t change the fundamental gameplay experience of Halo. Microtransanctions being my example here. They shouldn’t force us to buy something and pray we get what we wanted. As a consumer we should be getting exactly what we pay for. CoD Warzone does this perfectly in my opinion. Theres still a good chunk of free stuff, but when you buy something you know exactly what you’re getting. Every single item in their bundles can be looked at and examined. Being a 10 year platform their gonna need microtransactions and if they’re gonna be in Infinite then they need to be something like what I just described. You get what you buy, no random loot.

You still won’t be able to buy loot boxes with it, or so it seems. When 343i confirmed no paid loot crates, they stated no paid loot crates with real world money, or in game currency purchasable with real money. As stated it does not confirm no rng loot system. I do like how CoD Warzone did it. You can see what you’re getting, and there are objectives to unlock more.
I also like that my first season pass was included with my purchase of Call of Duty Warzone. It has cost me nothing extra either, you earn enough CoD points in a season to buy the next with change left over. I would have no issue with 343i implementing something similar with Halo. As long as there is no rng loot mechanics. That is the one thing that will push me away.
Since MP will be F2P you can bet that there will be some kind of monetization.
Worth noting the Monster XP rewards once redeemed appear to be coming in 30 minute “packs” listed as 2XP … makes me think of “REQ Pack”… but timed vs per match/WZ as in H5 is interesting. Makes me think the campaign may also have XP, reqs, etc.
Add: Are the paid reqs conaidered “loot crates”? I’ve never bought any in H5 so never really thought about it.

Ya I noticed that. May have reqs but for a limited amount of time vs for a match, like you said. Don’t see how this will be a good thing but hey its different. Guess we will have to wait and see.
I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t be in the game. Lootboxes on a whole have gained (to say well-deserved in an understatement) since EA’s Battlefront 2. Having lootboxes that can’t be bought with real money makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and would just be bad PR.
EDIT: That is not to say we might not get weapon/REQ variants like we did in Halo 5 which I personally liked and there are some cool custom games I’ve played involving them BUT they will not be tied to lootboxes.
i hope they don’t bring it back but make something different to balance the monetization

this right here. no way they don’t some sort of paid system. gotta make back that budget. I just hope it aint random like REQs
