The REQ system. We all know it’s a micro-transaction tactic that is supposedly used to fund the e-sports scene of Halo (even though MS used to fund that out of their own pocket back in the day). But this is not the point right now. The point is that the REQ system itself is just terrible as a progression system. Honestly, what’s the point? You put hundereds of hours into multiplayer for what? So you can open a couple of RNG card packs of which only 5% actually contains something you want? I don’t see the fun in that. The REQ system doesn’t give me any incentive to keep playing when i know that i have to open 100+ silver packs first to get all of the stuff i don’t want out of the way.
Why can’t we unlock things trough challenges/commendations? Like unlocking armor by completing campaign on legendary or unlock helmet by getting 100 ground pound kills. Things like this will make the game more fun in my opinion. For example if you need 1000 headshots with the sniper for a legendary helmet every single headshot kill will feel like an achievement. Not to forget the possibility for things like Vidmaster challenges to return. I just miss that feeling of progressing and EARNING the good stuff. That’s what CoD used to do well back in the day with CoD4 and MW2, and i dumped more hours into those games than i remember.
Anyway, do you like the REQ system and if so, why?
Yep, and this “Req” system is dragging halo down. What Halo 6 needs is a mix between Achievements unlocking armor from Halo 3 and the credits system to buy armor from the armory from Reach.
Ummm the req system has nothing to do with the progression system… your rank and csr are not tired to the reqs what so ever except that you can gain exp with boost and jackpots.
Now if you don’t like pretty much all armor is in the req system yeah that kinda does suck
I agree, it’s not the microtranscation part that’s bad, it’s the unlocking the items you don’t want, to have a better chance of getting the stuff you do want.

I almost forgot about the ranks. What exactly was the point of them being in the game again?

Well as a FFA player I use rank as a way to compare myself with other gamers. Also I am trying to get good enough to make it to champion level. Also no I don’t need some digital trinket to show I did it I get plenty of satisfaction just from playing and winning.

I actually meant the XP rank. Does it have any other use than just being a number between 1-152?

It’s like Reach’s rank it’s more of a reflection of how much you have played. You do unlock req packs as that progresses
I don’t see the big deal, I haven’t had to pay anything and I’m half way through all the unlocks. I don’t plan to stop playing so the system is fine for me, plus the stupid compulsive gambler players are paying for all of my DLC content.
I don’t like the idea you can pay for Reqs, if the Req system was based on the Req points only, it wouldn’t be so bad, but it’s just a slot machine designed to get people to spend more money to hopefully unlock something they want, its addictive and they are taking advantage of that
