REQ System sucks

Is it me or was the REQ system just made to help squeeze out every dime 343 can out of the players? Not only do you have to play 5 Warzone matches to buy a gold (10 for arena), but you only have the possibility to receive 2 items being a certification, customization item, or a new weapon attachment. I wish they completely rework the REQ system and make armors/visors obtainable by earning them. Lets say you want a Mk IV set or Helljumper, well depending on its rarity you’ll have to get a certain number of kills or objective captures in order to get it. Uncommons can be worth 100 kills, Rares 250, and Mythics would possibly be 1000 kills. I severely hate this new system since it gives an extremely unfair advantage towards those who pay extra money for the game and those who don’t. Maybe rework it, 343? All of these awful changes are causing veterans to just leave. Even Call of Duty Black Ops 3 has a better item system! Now would you please do the community a favor and fi the game?

So to sum this up, you’re mad because YOU can’t have what YOU want when YOU want it?

People on this forum need to seriously drop the selfish self entitlement attitude.

It’d be interesting if MS would just put a community market place in for Xbox like Steam does. Then have various games start off using that system and get revenue from the cuts from player to player transactions. I guess it gives enough player agency where people just don’t seem to care that a variant of microtransactions are in their games.

You must be new to the forum, because, you know, that this was case in every other Halo?

EDIT
i’m actually not satisfied with req’s either, but i got used to it.
the only addition i’d like to see, are variations of req packs.
i remember, in mass effect 3, you also unlocked anything MP related
through Packs, but after some time they’ve added for example
some kind of weapon packs, cant remember the name though, but anyways,
in those weapon packs you had at least a higher chance of getting a new weapon.
i’d really like to see something similar to this in H5.

Now when you see a guy with badass armor it’s not because he went through hell to get it, it’s because his rich CEO dad bought him a back of 34 REQ packs and has 10000 hours spent on the game getting REQ’s. Not being able to earn stuff isn’t being selfish, it’s taking the fun out of the game.

Why should I be appreciative of what 343 has done? They’ve destroyed Halo and turned it into just another shameless CoD clone. I remember back when every Halo made by Bungie brought massive and amazing changes and improvements to the series. The campaigns and the new characters introduced couldn’t be replaced and when they died, it was heartbreaking. Now all we have is a retired Marvel comic writer who loves to kill off major characters or re-script them to be bland as ever. Nobody likes anyone on Fireteam Osiris save for Buck, especially after the whole Halo marketing campaign just focusing on making Lock the good guy and the Master Chief a villain. All that Halo 5 is is a broken, copy-paste of Call of Duty Advanced Warfare with a “Halo” skin and a broken item system that gives you nothing but garbage unless you pay real money. The maps were horribly designed and the gameplay over-all promotes the act of rushing regardless of a player’s skill. Halo is a mere corpse now and 343 is just using it as a way to rake in swabs of free money.

I understand what you mean. I rarely take a chance at the random items I may get. So there is no need for me to even spend req points. The one time I was glad to spend req, I used 80,000 for the armor skin.

I understand differences in opinion, but I get real tired of CoD evoked when it’s clearly not even related and just thrown around like a buzzword. It’s basically the just like the MMO community and World of Warcraft. Anyways, look Halo 5 is not a traditional Halo game, not by a long shot. At this point it’s almost like a cousin, but that doesn’t make it call of duty. I don’t understand this, like at all, Halo 4 didn’t even play like cod even though it ripped it’s loadout system. The player traits, the way the game is conducted in a match, the weapons system, they just don’t play like each other. You can not like Halo 5 for what it is, but holy smokes I feel like brain is going to melt when people make the comparison unironically. It makes people sound really uncultured as a shooter fan.

Having to unlock most of stuff by meeting X amount of kills or whatever objective you want wont work. That would result in a great amount of people not being able to ever unlock stuff. Not everyone is a great player that can get 15-20 kills a game. So, for the sake of the casual users 343 did a good thing (business wise too) by allowing microtransactions for people who do not want to grind matches.

They designed this game to keep the population going steady until the next Halo launches. This is why it takes a while to get req points and why the SR rank will be impossible for a typical gamer to unlock. It keeps you coming back and working your -Yoink- off to get rewarded.

The req system is brilliant.

Video game companies don’t care about you anymore. They care about your money and time now.

People act as if we’ve earned all our armor before, when we only did in Halo 3 and kindoff in Halo 4.

Many want the Reach system to come back, but I hated it. Halo Reach punished people who didn’t play 24/7, I could never use anything new because I had to save my credits for that one helmet.

Say whatever you want about REQs, but right now I have much more armor options than ever before

I just looked this up; there was the Jumbo Equipment Pack full of equipment and single use items (double the normal amount), the Arsenal Pack that had a higher chance for weapons, and the Reserves Pack that had a better chance for new characters, customization options, or XP boosts. They didn’t guarantee those drops, but they did weigh the RNG in your favor. They were also three of the four most expensive packs available, meaning you had to grind it out for a little while if you wanted a better chance at rarer stuff you were looking for. Certainly was more palatable than 343i’s method of dumping more and more gold packs into a bundle and expecting you to pray for something you’re looking for.

If you remember, ME3 didn’t have these specialty packs until later in the support cycle. I’m betting you money that they’re coming to 5 at some point.

yeah, i know, but they added them some time. i seriously hope 343i does seriously think about this.
i’ve been grinding warzone assault for weeks now, and i’m still missing about 50 common/uncommon/rare
armors alone, not talking about helmets, visors, emblems and so on.

I certainly hope this is the case.

So because you don’t have 1 piece of armor the game isn’t fun for you?

Halo became a cash cow for microsoft back when Halo 4 was announced, hell even ODST and Reach where microsoft forcing bungie to make another Halo because they know it would bring in tons of money, now theres a Halo released yearly and that really does sadden me

My thoughts exactly
