REQ system successful?

I’ve recently been giving Halo 5’s requisition pack system a lot of thought, specifically the monetization of the the req packs. It seems at first glance to be a great idea, the player base buys packs to unlock certain items they want and the money goes to funding DLC and other content that can be added in. Not to mention the funding of outside game things such as the HWC. This gives the player a feel of free content with an already solid game while at the same time preventing a barrier for players who can’t afford to buy certain DLC for various reasons. The req system allows all players access to the same content and maps this results in a cleaner cut matchmaking system because the game Dosent have to separate players due to their lack or acquisition of DLC. While I see many positives I find it hard to find any flaws. The only major one would be that lack of funding could cause poor quality in DLC but I have yet to see signs of that. Any thoughts or opinions?

I don’t think money is to blame for the quality of content. A lot of the content that isn’t good to some players was executed fine, but the idea just wasn’t good from square one.

The idea of the req system wasn’t a good idea? Or was the idea of the DLC? Sorry I’m just struggling a bit to see your point. I have a bad habit of getting things jumbled so I apologize in advance.

i think its rather just the playerbase -Yoinking!- around and complaining always. like suck it up and carry on. if you think you are gonna do it netter then by all means make the update by yourself, you WILL see that its harder than you’d think.

The only anti-req argument that I’ve seen that makes any sense is the one made by people who prefer unlocks to be earned through game performance and/or achievements, rather than RNG. I completely disagree with these people, but I nonetheless understand why they feel the way they do.

You said that the DLC might not be very high quality, I think that it will be high quality but just not what people want.

No. We as consumers have the right to discuss the game that we play and spent money on. If we don’t ever give feedback, how will a dev know what we did and didn’t like?

And why in the world would any of us make the updates our self? We’re not game developers, we can’t do that. Its 343’s job to make the game, and our “job” to give them feedback. Nobody is claiming to be a better game dev than the ones that do it for a living.

Same boat I’m in. I like the REQ system, but I can see why others don’t like it. Most of the time all they can say is “I just want the armor that I want!”
