REQ system is just downright frustrating.

I’m still stuck on the bronze packs. I’ve been grinding game after game. I just don’t see how the YouTubers do it. Micro-transactions? Its like you have to buy them!

Users opening gold packs and getting mythics all day. I just don’t get how they do it with out micro-transactions. Its literally like you have to buy micro-transactions. Or you could just have no life and spend 24/7 grinding those REQ points. I have grinded infection and I am just filled with the feeling of boredom. Personally, I believe that Halo was never meant to be such a damn grind. The least 343I could do is make the REQ system a bit easier.

It takes around 3-5 hours to get about 100k REQ points for me depending on what gamemodes I play, some people buy them yes, I wouldn’t call it unfair, just sometimes luck. Also two other things, don’t grind Infection that’s pointless especially if you find it boring, you complain about people having no life and you do this? Makes no sense. And also Halo was never meant to be such a damn grind? Have you played much of the older games? Clearly not.

Completely honest here. Yes I have played the early Halo games. And no I do not mean that everyone has no life, but me. The reason why this post may not make any sense is because frustration makes me completely senseless. The earlier halo games just never felt like a grind to me except for Reach which I completely forgot about, but I was happy with it because I never cared for a skull inside a helmet. Its just that Halo 5 feels much more like a grind. Now that I’m more calm I’m gonna “Update” this post.

YAY

I am level 132. I just finished the gold pack grind. I haven’t spent any money on REQ microtransactions.

The REQ system is frustrating at times, especially when you are wanting a specific item (Halo 2 BR for me…). It’s also very rewarding imo. I have played since launch (8 months now) regularly throughout the week. For 8 months I had something to looks forward to and unlocks every day to try out. Everyone has a different opinion, so I understand how you might feel about the REQ system. Don’t get me wrong.

One of the keys to finishing my REQs so early (I know some people don’t finish till much later) was that I sold a ton of my REQs recently. At level 126 I decided to sell almost all my REQs. I kept 5 or so of each Rare-Legendary REQ and sold all common/uncommon (when you have hundreds of all these REQs, it adds up). I ended up being able to buy 30 gold packs in a single day after doing that. So it really sped up the process for me.

Take that as you will. The process is different for everyone, but this might help you out with unlocking a bunch of nice stuff quickly.

EDIT: Btw, I recommend just moving onto Silvers. Bronze packs don’t guarantee an unlock every time you buy them. Moving to Silver packs will be far more satisfying for you and it’s not slower than just finishing Bronze packs.

Stop bronze and go directly to silver.

just get silver

The only time when it is not frustrating is when it is fair. But it’s only ever fair once every 20-30 packs. Honestly, it should not be like this. We should be able to buy the items we want, when we want them. I do like how they added firefight commendations that reward gold packs, but they are finite in quantity. It helps, a little, but you should basically only open the gold packs when you finish silvers, otherwise they are effectively wasted. 343i took a step in the right direction in rewarding gameplay, rather than game time(which are very different things, for obvious reasons), but like I said, the packs we can earn are in limited amount. I think the commendations–a lot of commendations, actually–should reset after a set period of time, or start over once you cap at the maximum level. They could even go as far as to give procedural rewards; perpetual commendations that never end, but neither do the rewards. In fact, they scale as the commendation increases in level. That would make the req system a lot less frustrating. But I’m not sure if 343i would risk losing that much potential profits from people buying req packs. Oh well, guess we’ll have to wait for what they say for Halo 6 in a few years. Sigh.

Actually that’s not true. When it comes to req completion, the most efficient way is going from bronze, to silver, to gold. I have checked each method and starting from the bottom is the most effective way of obtaining everything. Its the fastest, and cheapest. But if it’s satisfaction that OP craves, then yes, silvers will probably be more satisfying, as you have a chance to get more powerful reqs from silvers. But if that’s the case, the OP should just go straight to gold. If the OP isn’t worried about satisfaction, start from bronze.
