Ok so here’s some thoughts I had about the REQ system and the future of halo.
I actually overall like the REQ system, primarily because it allows for free DLC (I don’t buy packs). Yes, I know that most of it should have been in at launch, but the fact of the matter is that every AAA shooter these days has some season pass DLC -Yoink- (I’m looking at you Battlefront), so I’m just happy that we don’t have to deal with that.
With that said, the current REQ system is far from perfect, primarily with the aesthetic reqs like armor and helmets. As many many people have griped about, getting cool armor doesn’t mean anything anymore except that you’re just some lucky -Yoink-. It used to be that you unlock the coolest armor when you reach certain xp levels or completed achievements. You had to earn it. It meant something.
So with this in mind, here’s my proposal for Halo 6’s system: continue to use the REQ system, but separate aesthetic items from weapons, vehicles, armor mods, etc. You will only unlock new armor through leveling up and completing achievements, and req packs will only contain the non-aesthetic items.
I would rather they get rid of the REQ pack and the RNG style of obtaining items and bring back the credits system and ‘store’ from Halo Reach. But at micro transactions for the influx of money instead of packs. I feel this will make more people happy, and if they continue to bring out new and free updates like they have done for Halo 5 then they will make a good profit
I don’t mind the REQ system in general (using the cards in warzone), but I agree with you in that a lot of the stuff should be earned. I don’t like the random aspect of rolling dice to get things. But once you have EARNED them by completing specific tasks, then use the card system to spend your items.

There are not enough levels and achievements to match all aesthetic items. I’m fine with the current system and how armor is unlocked through RNG, but it would be nice to have some more achievement related armor.
