REQ Store Gold Bundles Not Worth It

In Halo 5, they’ve given you the option to purchase multiple gold packs all at once. 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 34. Supposedly for a ‘discount’, or for convenience. 7 and up bundles come with a few free ones, as well. “Free”.
I’m going to show you that a majority of these options are actually more expensive than buying these amounts individually. Keep in mind, singular gold packs cost $2.99.

3 Gold Packs

  • Buying 3 gold packs individually costs $8.97.
  • Buying the bundle of 3 costs $8.99. That’s 2 more cents.

5 Gold Packs

  • Buying 5 gold packs individually costs $14.95.
  • Buying the bundle of 5 costs $14.99. That’s 4 more cents.

7 Gold Packs - +2 free Gold Packs

  • Buying 7 gold packs individually costs $20.93. That’s 94 cents more.
  • Buying the bundle of 7 costs $19.99.
(As you can see, this pack is not only cheaper, but also with 2 legitimately free packs.)

10 Gold Packs - +3 free Gold Packs

  • Buying 10 gold packs individually costs $29.90.
  • Buying the bundle of 10 costs $29.99. That’s 9 more cents.
(One of these “free” packs aren’t completely free, as apparently 9 cents goes toward paying for one of them.)

15 Gold Packs - +5 free Gold Packs

  • Buying 15 gold packs individually costs $44.85.
  • Buying the bundle of 15 costs $44.99. That’s 14 more cents.

34 Gold Packs - +13 free Gold Packs

  • Buying 34 gold packs individually costs $101.66. That’s 1 dollar and 67 cents more.
  • Buying the bundle of 34 costs $99.99.

As you can see, the 7 and 34 Pack-Bundles are the only cheaper ones out of all of them. So, if you’re gonna buy a ton of gold packs, buy them individually.(unless you’re buying 7 or 34, or 9 or 47 - the free packs that come with 7 and 34 help the last two numbers.)

What does the extra money on the 3,5,10, and 15 Pack-Bundles go to? Is it to the convenience of buying them all at once? Is it simply rounding?
I won’t jump to conclusions, but I could see why 343 Industries would want to round the number upwards a few cents, as rounding it downwards would make it a whole dollar cheaper. And that’s, in general, bad for business.

(Disclaimer: I am not pro- or anti- purchase of gold packs. I can see why certain individuals purchase them(Lack of time to earn them), and I can also see why certain individuals are against them(imbalance the game).

the money go towards the hcs championship and funding the free dlc

We’re talking a matter of cents here.

A couple cents is worth the time you save over buying every one seperatley

I have a job. My time is literally not worth the cents this post talks about.

OP, you have to act like the free ones cost money. You did your math wrong. So the 15 REQ pack is actually a 20 REQ pack. 20 individual packs cost $59.80, as opposed to the for the 15+5 bundle at $44.99. All the bundles with free Gold packs are cheaper than buying them individually.

You even wrote about the ‘+ free packs’ but didn’t do the maths? Sorry but it’s cheaper as you go up ratio wise. Your math is wrong.
EDIT
I get what you’re saying now. But still, because of the free packs it still does turn out a lot cheaper either way.

I’m just saying. Cents add up with things like this.

I know, but when they say free, I typically expect it to be 100% free. Could’ve called it discounted.

Mainly I was just happy I finally had something to make a presentation of. I never do get the opportunity to make a neat, organized, formatted presentation.

I got tons of good stuff.

Wow, that’s sneaky sneaky! lol

You mean the stuff that should’ve been in the base game to begin with like forge?

Taxes.

Yeah thanks op for the effort and time it took you to calculate this but if you have money, you could care less about a few cents being saved. Besides some of those bundles are cheaper than buying them individually.

I think it’s just to show how scummy it is of 343 to market them like you’re saving a ton of money but in actuality you’re not getting anything for free at all.

Somebody got a calculator for the holidays… Per unit the multipe packs are cheaper. You will learn about this type of math in the 7th grade.

What I don’t understand is, why pay for virtual items in a content lacking game, when you could use that money to buy another game and get far more content and entertainment.

I don’t see the problem. If you bothered wasting money on them at all I don’t really have any sympathy.

I’m in the ninth. :l
But someone needs to take a trip back to typing class~ “multipe”. Little typo though.

It depends. For example, I’m fairly content with the content I have right now. I can’t think of another game I want right now even if I could buy it.

Actually, just an observation. As I said, I’m not readily assuming what 343’s reasoning for it is.

As I said above, it adds up. Cents. If it were a single purchase, sure. But if you’re buying dozens, not so much.

That and I just enjoy creating such organized presentations.

I also noticed that right away. Like for the 3x Gold, why would we buy that? We aren’t even saving anything on it. Now if it were say a dollar off, then it would be okay. But this move makes no sense from a logical standpoint.

How do you not get items for free?
