REQ Points for being active on the Forums?

Just an interesting idea I had. How about awarding REQ points for being active on the forums, or even in the level-up system that is already implemented. Its a way to get the larger Halo community involved outside of the game, and have discussions on the game with a larger base. Thoughts on the idea and how to implement it?

In the case of spammers or non-constructive members, it is inevitable they get a ban or are reported. In the same way AFK and Warzone Farmers ruin the in game experience, spammers and non-constructive members will be reported on here. But even AFKs and farmers get a chance to come back and earn REQs in game, so the same should be applied to the forums.

Would just cause people to spam -Yoink- replies that are completely off topic tbh. Which although they could be easily banned, just adds more more for the mods. They already have enough -Yoink- reports to filter through.

I completely love this idea, this should definetly be implemented. +1 to you

That’s an interesting idea, but even if you were active in the forums I don’t imagine you’d get many REQ points, maybe a REQ pack with a few boosts, that’d be a good idea as well

Nah. The admins can only handle so many -Yoink- posts that I bet another thousand -Yoinks!- would break the place.

I don’t think that’d work. Ever been to one of those forums that requires you to have X number of posts to view links, or downloads, or whatever? It’s just overwhelming numbers of new users saying “Yes, I agree!” and “That could be interesting.” to buff their post counts for their reward. Truthfully, I think now more than ever that it’s just a certain type of individual who is willing to go on a specific forum and discuss certain aspects on a regular basis. You’re either interested enough to make meaningful contributions or you’re not, you know?

Yes, I disagree.

See, and my idea from this is that its those who have shown interest that should be rewarded. Regardless of how posts go or not, everyone on this forum is doing their part, as small as it may be, to make the next Halo better. All the large topics are being noticed, and even though they may not comment on it, they are more likely than not looking at it as ideas for the next game. A reward for that isnt all bad. I mean, Spartan Companies were created to get clans going again, but mainly people just joined because they wanted a free REQ pack. And now, we have people that are mad that clans are back, in a big way (though not necessarily the best, I get that Achilles is great and all but try letting others enjoy the game as well). If 343 can reward that, then surely those contributing to the future success of Halo deserve something.

How about rewarding REQ points for levels? Ive seen quite a few Marine and above people on the forums recently, seems like an achievement enough.

Honestly, it was a spur of the moment idea. I figured someone on here would know a better way to implement it than I would.

This place is already a heap of trash posts with people trying to raise their ranks.

It would be gret, but idiots would turn these forums to even more cancer

How about req points based on LIKES? Spam posts won’t get likes. Of course, some people may circle like each other, but a max number of likes given may be a solution?

I see where you’re coming from, but I’m not entirely sure I agree. On one hand, how do you quantify how much a post is worth? On the other hand, if you don’t, is it fair to say that a long and detailed post describing all aspects of a problem and ways to fix it is worth as much (or as little) as “WOOOOW, lots of entitled whiners in this thread kids these days smh xDDD”? It’s like the steam mods fiasco a few months back, when the market became instantly flooded by low effort, low price mods because high effort just wouldn’t be rewarded with the same consistency.

Spartan companies are another issue altogether. I feel that 343 outright missed the point of clans by giving you no way to interact with your group specifically via the in game UI. Another blade on the fireteam menu labelled “spartan company” listing members and what they’re doing (identical to that of the other blades) is all it would take to make SCs more useful to more people. The req pack incentive is there because otherwise there just plain is no incentive. Why bother joining a spartan company when you’re going to have to go out of your way to find and invite players one way or another?
