REQ Packs

Just started playing Halo 5 for the first time this week. How did they get away with making H5 the first main-series Halo with a T rating while implementing gambling. The December “huge news update” was also pretty vague on whether or not unethical practices like this will be making a return in Infinite.

Req packs were the first foray into large quantity micro transactions. There will be many more in Infinite from what we’ve seen so far.

I believe they’ve said Infinite won’t have random loot boxes per say but there will be in game purchases.

I think it’ll essentially be a case of you know what you’re buying rather than just praying to get something you want out of a loot box.

I think it’s considered not actual gambling in most places because you’re always guaranteed something. For it to be legit gaming you’d have to have a chance to win absolutely nothing. Infiniye has been confirmed to not have loot boxes for years now.

I’m fine with stupid adults blowing all their money in a videogame. However, these games should have an Adult rating. Most kids have no sense of managing finances and it’s not taught in most schools’ core curriculums. It’s bad enough that these games are turning children into fat or sickly malnourished (sadly it’s usually one of those extremes), antisocial, nonproductive adults. But now we’re adding a gambling addiction to their list of problems.

343 has already been very open about the fact that they won’t have loot boxes within the game. There will be in-game purchases but you will always know what you’re purchasing.
