Req gifting = useless

Req gifting is a great idea by 343. I have completed Golds, have dozens if not hundreds of everything, have half a million req points, I’m sick of opening packs, so now I can help out my friends and gift them req packs! That’s so cool!!! Wait…what!? I can’t gift req packs bought with RP? It’s cash only!? Sigh…nevermind. Another great idea wrecked by greed.

Eh, at least you get 2 to gift but that’s about it. But it kinda makes sense cause people with millions of req points could help their friends complete their reqs in a day.

“We know players who have amassed massive stockpiles of RP would love nothing more than to help spread that love amongst their friends but after reviews with the Xbox Live Enforcement Team, studying examples of similar systems in the wild and consulting a variety of experts, concerns over a multitude of potential scams and exploits led to the decision to limit this new feature to real-money transactions only.”

Cash only, that sucks! Capitalism strikes again!

This.
And yes, I’ve been dreaming about doing this for my friends for a while because they don’t play as much as me and I have more stuff. I could buy req packs and send them to them with my req points.
But no, $2 to do it (gold packs only, for now.)
Well now it looks like I won’t be req gifting sadly, maybe a couple on Christmas for a surprise but yeah….

I can see their point, but it’s basically time wasted even putting it out. I mean I don’t understand paying cash to begin with, I really don’t see people buying Gold packs for other people. If someone want’s to help me out, just send me the $2.99 instead.

If I had a million REQ points saved up, I would just spend half of that and give it to my alt account. Oh, hey guys! I’m a level 10 with 50 Nornfangs. Seems legit. /s

Using the RP system would allow you to make “farm” account for RP so you could conceivably have limitless amounts of REQs. If you and your 3 pals have all finished golds, then you could all pool your resources on one account and boost your mythic/high value REQs to a point where you have as many as you could possible use

While I agree it would be nice to be able to use req points; it seems more important that it is an easy way to give a gift to a fellow community member. It’s the opportunity for a nice gesture and since we’re all being given a gifting pack it’s an opportunity to show one of your buddies or a new player you know that you care without costing you anything.

And they could use the old pay me 100 dollars cash and I’ll send you 300 dollars worth of golds I’ve grinded for thing…

Of course I already see about 10 exploitive uses for the system as is…which is making me a bit sad.

Other than blackmarket req sales undercutting 343’s req sales, it’s harmless. Honestly without warzone turbo you quickly accumulate more reqs than you can possibly ever use. Lots of players already have basically unlimited reqs, yes even mythics, but we can only use 1 or 2 high level reqs per game, so having unlimited reqs is limited by warzone itself. Worrying about everyone having too many reqs is silly, eventually we will all have tons of everything, so the only problem with gifting reqs via rp is the fact that you all get to where I am without paying 343 cash for req packs. Obviously 343 doesn’t want that.

Well, no.

A REQ black market would lead to scams and exploits, hurting their player base and brand image. This was explained to you. You replied to the quote.

Even though I would love to send them to people. The use of money only to send REQs makes sense. As Ske7ch said stuff like that does lead to scamming and boosting

Well, technically it’s Credit and Debit. And while I agree that it’s a yoink- move, I can see their point of view.

It’s a niche capability that very few will use. They couldn’t throw in a sell all enhancement bone in there?

Yeah, they wouldn’t have to do that if everyone was honest… :frowning: But they could put a limit on how much, like 10000’s worth of packs every week, so there would be less scamming.
For reference, that’s 1 gold pack or 2 silver or 5 bronze.

I can imagine people with a stock pile of RP trying to sell them for a reduced price.

It’s a hard thing to accept, but people aren’t honest. I cry out and try to offer ethics to the rafters, but there will always be a small section of humanity that will try to exploit the weak and gullible. It’s a part of the human condition, I fear we will never eliminate completely. Limiting it to a gold pack a week might be a nice middle ground, but it’s hard to tell what they would have to do to make those limitations. It may be easier to say, “funds only.” than limit it to one pack a week. Plus 10,000 req points comes pretty quick…you combine that with a few smurf accounts and you’ve got yourself a business.

True. I have another question: If we buy the gold pack bundle (Like buy 7, get 2 free), can those be both "gifted’ and opened? Cause you bought them, but it would be kinda weird to not be able to give 2 and open some if you want.

I’m not dense. i understand lol. My point is that the whole idea is basically useless. Players who haven’t finished will be buying for themselves. Players who have finished and have 182 beam rifles think it’s insane to spend real money for beam rifles. It’s an idea that sounds great, but comes off as a cash grab. Just my opinion.

I know the same thing you do, I.E. what you saw in the update. I happen to have a bit of insight into the depths of human depravity from my youth, job, and education that’s about it.

What if I want to buy a stack of Gold Packs?
When you buy more than one Gold Pack at a time, all of your packs will show up in your inventory just as they always have in the past. Except now, when you navigate to your Requisitions you’ll see that these recently purchased packs are flagged as GIFTABLE. You can select each pack and then decide who to gift it to in the same manner as noted above (or open it yourself).

So it seems that is the case, but I can’t say for certain.
