I’m not sure if this already been posted or nor, but I’ll post it anyway.
Anyone who has played any of the PC version’s of Halo(or any other PC game) would know that you were able to search for custom servers which featured a large variety of custom games whether they were competitive or just for clean fun. I would love to see this happen in Halo 4. I love matchmaking, but I would love to be able to join a game of random individuals who would just want to play for fun, something that you rarely come across in a match-made game.
I believe the addition of the eligibility custom game searching would benefit the community greatly. It would also help the community in terms of getting to know each other. I believe it is a fantastic concept and I would love to see it brought to the console for a change.
Please let me know what you guys think.
Agrees, something like action sack.
Yes, this is a feature many has asked for, but since Halo is p2p it is hard to make it happen and make it work good. If Halo had dedicated servers anyone could potentially rent a server and host custom games, just like on PC.
It sounds cool, but (playing devil’s advocate here) my guess is if that were done, they would probably have to have some strict regulations on what custom games would be allowed, because as neat as it sounds, I could see a lot of abuse and a lot of bad maps or game types getting put on there which would pretty much ruin the whole concept. Maybe if they had some sort of post-game voting where if you get a bad map you can tell them you didn’t like it, and enough bad marks against the map and it wouldn’t be able to be put on the custom playlist again.
Dedicated servers aren’t necessary. Just need a way for people to decide if their custom games should be open to everyone, and then a way for people to browse/search open games. Search by map/gametype, and on the results screen show the description of each so people know what they’re getting into.
If you get a bad map, you just leave, not a big deal. Maybe a mechanism to leave feedback/report offensive maps would be beneficial, or if you join a game from somebody and it’s bad you can select to ignore games that person is hosting. If enough people ignore somebody, maybe they get suspended from hosting custom games, similar to in reach if enough people mute somebody they’re auto-muted for everybody for a bit.

Right, I was thinking of current playlist rules where quitting too much will get you banned…wasn’t thinking that quit banning could be removed for a custom playlist.
I agree 100%. Customs FTW!
I think they just really need a world-wide invite system, that you can of course turn off when you dont want an invite.
