Reporting. Are you on a power trip?

I just recently saw several responses about reporting in a poll that reminded me how people can loose site of the original purpose for “reporting”. If your reporting so you can stick it to your competitor or because you are emotionally having “little man syndrome” then that’s not helping anyone. Reporting should be to protect the players. We game to escape life, blow off steam, personal hobbies, or entertain ourselves. If someone is harassing or threatening then that’s not fun and reporting maybe necessary to protect all. But if you are reporting because you think you need to satisfy a power trip then perhaps your right should be called into question.

The only reasons I ever report for is early quitters and blatant, intentional team killing. In my mind at least that meets the intent of the system and is fair.

I only report when I see some sort of weird stuff happening, that’s only when I have reviewed the gameplay in theatre or the carnage report. i.e. players quiting, if Microsoft didn’t think “quiting early” was a problem then they would not have put it in the report section.
I personally do not think that it is going on a “power trip” when I report players, it is there so that the community can in some way police themselves, I will admit it can be abused but tbh that is in the minority.
Then again it seems in nearly all type of games and IRL the minority are always the ones who shout the loudest and shape the way things become.

I only report when it’s an actual issue or something funky is really happening. Heck last night playing breakout I had to report someone because they were tea bagging through the floor, I mean half their body down in, to avoid headshots and zipping around the map, it was more than just lag going on there for sure.

Same. Unfortunately it’s not possible to see the difference between a quit and a lag-out

What do you mean? Please provide examples of power trip reporting.

He means like someone t-bagged you in the game so you and your friends report him to purposefully try and get him banned.

I only report those that I feel have negatively impacted the games environment, whether its team killing, verbal harassment, inactivity, or intentionally trying to disrupt the other players enjoyment.

I may actually go on a reporting power trip if people dont stop -Yoinking!- spartan charging me because they feel like it!!

Im either on scope or in the req
station and get spartan charged out of it by ‘teamates’

It really should show the difference, all you get is a dnf.

That shouldn’t happen often, and to be fair there just screwing around. But yea it does get annoying. Especially when you have to scroll through the system to get a br and have a team mate knock you out of the req station.

I know they are :joy: i dont actually report hardly ever unless i start getting abuse either because im a girl or ive done better than them. (Which is like once in a blue moon these days)

I find people are getting worse for it though

I report quitters who leave half way through a ranked game and people who purposely betray me, I also block them so we don’t match again.

I report when someone on my own team repeatedly kills me, that’s about it

I report:

-When someone abuse their communications privilidges. Harass others, rage uncomprehensibly or otherwise act like an angry malignant fungus.

-Players activley work against their team by abusing given abilities or grief. This is usually, bur not limited to team killing, suiciding and feeding.

-Players quit.

-Glitches are abused and exploited.

I never report anyone for anything due to me doing bad and so forth. It’s what I like to call, Rage Repping.

I report anyone who kills me, because obviously they are hacking. /s

There like cats, they nip your finger to get your attention, and they just want to play around lol

I only report people for cheating/poor connection.

I’m sure blocking only stops communication, even on the 360 the avoid button only reduced the chance of meeting up, it was not a definite never see again, I report for quitting, cheating, glitching, team killing and abusive players.
