Report From The Front Lines (Hang In There)

Like you I’m frustrated with this launch. And I’m no 343i apologist. I’m not going to tell you to be patient or ‘just play the campaign’. It makes sense to be upset as a result of this and it makes sense to express that frustration (especially if it contains information that can actually be used).

But I’m here to let you know (in case you don’t already), even from the perspective of someone severely let down and furious and worried, that after being able to play three solid matches in the Halo 3 playlist in a row, that beneath this botched launch is a beautiful game that is everything diehard fans crave. I was instantly transported to my early twenties, where I made my best friends through this game. When it works, it feels like returning home triumphantly after decades away. Apart from looking beautiful, the Xbox One controller as well as the refined controls makes for a smooth, wonderful experience. It feels like good old fashioned true Halo but in its purest, most modern form. I know some of you already know this through customs, but there are likely many not participating in such games who’ve seen only a load screen and feel dejected.

Hang in there.

Your frustration is justified, but I promise, when the game is up and running and we get into matches faster, a wonderful collection awaits you. We shouldn’t have had to wait, but, at the very least, you can rest assured that there is something beautiful and fun beneath this ugliness.

In time, if we’re not given some free dlc or free gold subs, we’ll at least end up with a great game so long as we don’t let go of it just yet.

I agree with you. Once you get in a game it’s probably the best Halo I’ve ever played. Thanks for your motivational post:)

Yep. Once you’re in a match that works it is the best!!

I can’t wait for those patches to come through.

Once you’re in a match its pretty good, except for the occasional 5v3 which is when you throw on your backpack

i cant remember the last time i had this much insane amounts of fun in a game,
campaign and MP

its just epic really

cant wait till all this mess is sorted but even with all the mess im so happy with MCC

Like the OP I am going to ignore the server problems in this post and talk about the game underneath.
Lately, shooters have been getting more and more complicated. The time between matches is spent furiously trying to sort out new customisations. The earlier halos are simple, and so refreshing to play. I think Halo 2 and 3 were the perfect balance. Some options to add your personality, but nothing that is 100% mandatory for the next game.
