Replace Sgt Johnson

It been a long time since we have had a likable character in halo and I mean one People care for like Sgt Johnson who died in halo 3 so if they replaced him with a male/female character who is funny but not too like Johnson.
What do you think?

They already tried that with palmer and it didn’t work out

Johnson could have a son we never knew about. If we can’t bring him back from the dead, we can always give him offspring

Honestly, I thought Buck replaced him in the comic relief department (despite lacking the edginess and awesomeness Johnson had, of course). Solution: Hand Buck a cigar and program a couple sexual innuendos into his dialogue.

Why can’t we promote Stacker to the new Johnson? I always love it when he pops up, and he is seriously underused. Actually, was he even in Halo 5? And why is he not in any books?

Who’s “Stacker”?

Replacing (insert awesome character) is a bad idea, because it’s like trying to remake a movie that was done right the first time… from the start the replacement is in a shadow it will never get out from under.

Locke had this problem. He’s fine as a character, but he was marketed as Master Chief 2.0, and was almost universally rejected for it.

I think it is best to just try to make cool characters, and not try to make them specifically replacements for the ones we love.

I’d say Buck was great in his own right, which is why he did so well. He wasn’t a remake of Johnson.

You don’t remember Sgt. Marcus P. Stacker? He’s been in almost every single Halo game!

Stacker has been around so it might not be a bad idea.

But Palmer wasn’t funny, or anywhere near as likable as Johnson.

Johnson had charm, while she had none. In fact, she had a pretty -Yoink- attitude that just rubbed people the wrong way.

It would be very cool if he had a secret son, who later joined up and also attained the rank of sergeant. However 343i can’t replace Johnson, no one can.

Exactly, which is what I implied with my original comment

The son that nobody knew cliche is worse than if they tried to make Halsey the new Johnson. It’s poor writing and leads to characters that are forced and unnecessary.

The Sarge will never be replaced. Oorah!

Well that’s your opinion. I quite like the idea and as we all know, he’s full of surprises. I don’t expect the son to be a copy of his father, but it would be a great way to get to know Johnson on a more personal level.

I think Buck is a character some people care about. His story in New Blood is way cool along with halo 3 odst. I think what 343 needs is a likable commander or sergeant. All the original trilogy had them. The ones in 4 and 5 are not as good, such as Palmer and Lasky imo. Honestly I feel as the marines and how they are in 4 and 5 suck compared to the original trilogy. They don’t have funny comments and aren’t ad helpful. I just don’t care about the marines in 4 and 5 and I feel as that’s a problem.

there are possible ways 343 could make a likable character alike Johnson but i have my doubts a character in halo will ever be as popular as Johnson was.

I would love a character like johnson, but it’s not really something you can plan. Each time they try to have a johnson like character in the series they’re never liked very much
