Repairing vehicles

With multiplayer most likely expanding its player count for big team battles, it seems a bit ridiculous to have a damaged vehicle on the map full of danger.

Vehicle repair can be annoying (Battlefield) but also on the other side, quite useful.

There are a few possibilities to consider:

  1. Repair tool (fully repairs vehicles over a period of time)
  2. Emergency repair kit (something like a fire extinguisher that half repairs a vehicle)
  3. A cyclops, the walkers from halo wars could be given a role here
  4. On their own
  5. Should not repair
  6. Other
  7. Indifferent

I personally am in favour of having cyclops repair vehicles (and perhaps a covy version too)

EDIT: There was going to be a poll, but I buggered it up

Do you mean be able to repair any vehicle like in Star wars Battlefront 2? Or do you mean something different?

Personally, I kinda indifferent to the idea. If it’s there, then cool. If not, then meh, oh well.

IF there is ever vehicle repair in Halo,it should be an AA ability, nothing more, nothing less.Makes it balaned for everybody.

yeah battlefront/battlefield with the fusion cutter/repair tool (blowtorch)

I’d also like to say that Spartans are supposed to be trained in everything. Jacks and Jills of all Trades!
So repairing vehicles and maybe even “field medic” should come into play!

Make it an AA or a piece of Equipment/weapon on the map.

I personally like 1: repair tool classified as weapon/equipment

It should not fully repair the vehicle. Because when the vehicles take damage they lose bits and pieces, or large chunks of certain areas (the banshees wings). What it should do is stop the vehicle from burning, and restore its health to a certain point (eg, smoking warthog is fully repaired, but flaming warthog cannot be repaired past heavily smoking)

Engineers in Halo multiplayer would incur many self inflicted team splatters

Forerunner hardlight wrist-blade secondary which can slowly repair vehicles and increase normal melee range with a lunge.

Aesthetics of Mass Effect arm blade x Funtionality of Battlefront fusion cutter x Attack style of Halo energy sword.

Could have unique assassination animations too.

There could be tiers:

Tier 1: Full health
Tier 2: Damaged Armour
Tier 3: Heavily damaged

If you have damaged armour (tier 2), you could repair to full health (tier 1) and if you are heavily damaged (tier 3) you can repair to tier 2 but you can’t repair from tier 3 to 1.

this could be shown in game, kinda how it already is, Say you’re in a scorpion and it smokes slightly, it can be repaired to full. But as soon as the armour plates fall off, the vehicle can only be repaired to a stable condition (extinguishing flames).

Thats one of the reasons why I’m in favour of cyclops (besides it being another vehicle that is usable) cyclops can be engineers but heavily protected. These units could have a melee attack (pummeling vehicles and throwing units) to self defend, but no other, making them solely for repair (as is their purpose).

I can see that being a rather clunky mechanic though. (Ha ha)

Not sure
I like the idea
But it could be abused so easily that it would be a serious problem.
Imagine 1 person in a scorpion and then all of his teammates repairing it making it un killable.
