Repairing the Infinity

Since the UNSC Infinity pretty much crashed on, or rather in Requiem, how is it supposed to return to the air? By no means could a ship that size repair itself before the Prometheans tore it asunder. And we have proof that it does in fact take back to the skys and escape Requiem, knowing that they don’t encounter Prometheans until after the crash but still send Spartan IVs out on Spartan Ops missions to Requiem.

This is a huge sign that the humans get a lot of help from either some Forerunner, or the covenant become allies again.

This is a big factor in who the Ancient Evil is, and could be a big encounter hint.

Again, by NO means could the crew of the Infinity repair their ship in just a few days while being attacked by Prometheans & Hostile Covenant. Not without the help of some Forerunner Engineers anyway.

Rather than digging
Also, there is this. Given the terrain in and the sky, I don’t think that’s Requiem. Where are the floating pillars and cloud covered ceiling? Which leads me to believe we are somehow teleported here. A Halo and a planet. That Halo somewhat matches the description of either installation 06 or 07. And that Planet may be the Forerunner homeworld, or even Charrom Hakkor.

My thought for the reason it looked “empty” in a layer would have been because the sentinels were strip mining it to repair the Halo. I was under the impression that installation 07 had gotten the hell beaten out of it in Primordium. The book explained a “wolf faced planet” given the characteristics of a wolf face from a millenia of asteroids hitting the surface. Given the size of that crater, I am led to believe that is in fact the same planet.

One more thing
When Mendicant Bias was defeated by Offensive Bias, he was boken and scattered across the galaxy. While we do a see a single fragment on the Ark[00]/Alpha Halo[04B], this is not the only fragment. There could easily be another fragment stored on Requiem. This new fragment could still be rampant, since the Ark’s fragment was given a special scenario that turned him good in the end. This new fragment could have control over these Prometheans.

Now, this is the part that could get interesting. What if Bornstellar is also on Requiem, and he is the one piloting the cryptum? He could have been awakened when the Ark was destroyed, and since then be fighting or hiding from the Prometheans and the Mendicant fragment. Perfect timing for the Chief and Cortana, a Reclaimer and a Human construct, to just float by. Followed by the Infinity, who is tracking a large Forerunner signal along with Chief’s distress signal.

Add a few missions of pulling Mendicant out of hiding, just for him to escape through a SlipSpace portal to Installation 07, Omega Halo, where he plans to fire the Halo array and/or release the Flood. Again.

I doubt that a ship that size was even damaged very much in the crash. It would have to be made of TOUGH material so it probably had minor damage. I think the main problem is that the ship lost control and crashed, but you will probably destroy something during the game that allows it to take flight again.

The U.N.S.C Infinity has the best equipmentin the entire U.N.S.C. Including Forerunner tech.

As far as we know, the only upgrades the Infinity got, compared to something like the Pillar of Autumn, is Forerunner slipspace drives, maybe advanced shielding (which would have no effect from ramming into the ground) and some enhanced weaponry. Oh, and the holodeck.

I’m sure they used some kind of super tough Titanium alloy, this is the pride of the UNSC we’re talking about after all.

Not sure if it helps any, but they Spartan ops takes place six months after campaign.

And who knows, maybe they had a friendly little fleet of monitors to help them. All will be revealed in time my little curious friend.

I’d go with the Slipspace drive was damaged, they had to repair it, they repair it after weeks of fighting Prometheans on Requiem and then escape into space and drift away, similar to how Chief & Cortana did until help arrived, then it is repaired in space.

Multiplayer doesn’t take place until six months after the Campaign if I recall correctly.

It would have to be made out of a super tough material or it would collapse under it’s own weight think about it… It’s 3m long…

Listening to how deadly 343i says Prometheans are, I doubt they could fight them off for weeks.

It all makes sense now! You are a genius.

I wonder if we’ll be blowing up this Halo too.

Different parts of planets have different terrains and skies, although it is a viable explanation, I wouldn’t think they have got to another planet straight away, when you first see the Infinity come into Requiem and all the sky shots we saw during the E3 demo didn’t show the floating pillars so my knowledge.

The ship didn’t even “crash”. Something took control of it and landed it in Requiem.

Blow up the Infinity?

Looks more like a crash to me

Look again at the picture of the infinity. Behind Chief you see ruble falling from the ship, giving the impression it just rose from either siting idle in a canyon (leaving it vulnerable) or leaving an underground tunnel/portal, much like the Spirit of Fire did in HW.

Are you referring to the rumble? Because there are things that cause rumbles when they dock like boats, a massive space ship probably would too.

Now that is interesting.

Notice how Infinity is on the ground and at a slant, usually you don’t dock like that.

If it was intended to be a landing, then it was a poor one for whoever took control of it, look at the position of the Infinity, sure, someone took control of it to try and force it to land, but it crashed into the terrain.

Doesn’t mean it’s an invincible ship, I bet a Covenant Super Carrier could damage the UNSC Infinity.
