Renegade Faction?

So the human rebels and KigYar pirates have joined forces against UNSC / ONI.

Will they appear in the reclaimer trilogy and/or books as a major separate faction, and am I the only one who wants them to win?

Yes power to the human insurrectionist that nuke cities. Power to them. >.>

UNSC isn’t very good, and ONI is borderline evil, but if the Human rebels won, hell would break loose.

Technically the Jackals don’t join anything. They only do what they get paid to do.

They nuked cities. The past. Remind you of anyone? Hint.

Also, nuking cities is better than exterminating intergalactic civilizations with biological weapons, which is what ONI is planning.

I’d want to overthrow “democracy” if I were living in the Outer Colonies too. Democracy to them means they get no voting rights for the governing body of your planet, system, and race. Democracy to them means if you feel you are being cheated in your current tax situation, or the economical (ab)use of your planet, there is nothing you can do about it.

Sure, Insurrectionists have attacked the UNSC. But you are forgetting about what came before that. Honestly, it looks like the Insurrectionists foreign policy works much better than ONI/UNSC. Unlike ONI/UNSC, they actually have allies. And I give them even more credit for having that close of a relationship with the Kig-Yar, who are seemingly always bandits. I wouldn’t doubt that Insurrectionist leaders would handle the Sanghelios situation much better than MAC blasting the planet, manipulating two leaders who both agreed to peace, and putting into motion a plan that involves poisoning the entire population via genetically altered crops.

Not only that, they have a colony where a Skirmisher and a human driving around in a truck chatting to each other is everyday business. Seriously, ONI, take notes.

And isn’t he the last of his kind you would expect him to hate all humans for his kind being wiped out.

Well it’s never stated he’s the LAST. It’s likely that, instead of being totally wiped out, they just took a MAJOR population dent, so much that the Covenant stopped fielding them lest they risk extinction.

As it is, I bet there aren’t very few.

It’s unfortunate the Insurrectionists aren’t in charge. Because they understand first hand what it is like to be oppressed, they seem to have the ability to empathize with other species. And by the looks of Halo 4, ONI/UNSC really pissed away opportunities to gain allies, because they’re gonna need it up against Prometheans and the Didact.

I wouldn’t say they should be in charge, really. In this matter, they seem a bit better than ONI, but remember, they were ready to become the Covenant’s new Grunts as long as it would let them live in Cole Protocol, and would rather believe the (unfounded) belief that the UNSC somehow ticked them off rather than they just declared us heretics like all evidence suggests, simply because they’ve spent so long hating the UNSC.

They might have some things worked out better, but overall, their portrayal as terrorists and revenge-before-reason fanatics trumps any grievances, at least in my view.

And the UNSC (or Parangosky, or whoever said it) sort of has a point (in Glasslands): the universe is too hostile to afford fragmented human empires. They need everyone they can get.

The colony of Venezia may be ‘peaceful with aliens’ but it’s only because their is no Human law ruling them.

It’s like in China, dynasties were overthrown by rebellions and despite having Noble reasons, fell into Chaos because they weren’t able to actually handle being leaders.

If the insurrectionists came into power they would be just as corrupt if not more then the UNSC and ONI.

Essentially they shouldn’t try to take down the UNSC, but instead fight for independence. Because how they work may on a small scale, but not on big scale. Even though the UNSC and ONI are corrupt, if the Insurrections went one day “We’re aren’t going to attack you anymore, we’re going to leave, and setup our own government and not bother with you.” I bet you UNSC and ONI would be more then willing to let them go off and do their own stuff if it didn’t hurt any of their civilians.

Sort of like Communism, there has been some small groups of people who actually have it working, but if you tried to apply it to a large scale, nothing would work and everything would fall into chaos.

I was thinking just this! If 343i added a few missions in Halo 5 or 6 where we get to invade Venezia against the Insurrection and Kig-Yar pirates, that would be so amazing.

I would much rather see some Precursors and/or the Librarian.

Well of course, we know the Flood and Precursors will be showing up within the next two games, but if Venezian factions plan on nuking Earth or other major colonies, I’d like to be there and fight them as well. Just for a mission or two, just like the 'Refumee Heretics.

Insurrectionists and Kig Yar alliance? I just hope it is for real this time.

I want a mission where we get to go to Venezia and kick some Insurrectionist-Kig-Yar -Yoink- in the future. It would really shake things up. There’s no way 343i would be introducing these guys into the fiction only to make them useless.

Wait…so it’s happening AGAIN?
Is this in the Thursday War or Glasslands?! I haven’t read them yet.

Well that’s demonstrably untrue. They failed to do this twice with the Sangheili. Both Avu’s and Thel’s peace treaty were broken.

> Well that’s demonstrably untrue. They failed to do this twice with the Sangheili. Both Avu’s and Thel’s peace treaty were broken.

Considering there is a faction of the Sangheili who DO want to stop Humanity, they still haven’t completely stopped attacking Humanity.

Servants of Abiding Truth are doing the same thing the Insurrectionists are doing, they wish to overthrow the current government. In the case of the SOAT, they wish to also then go after Humanity once they have it.

> Considering there is a faction of the Sangheili who DO want to stop Humanity, they still haven’t completely stopped attacking Humanity.

The only faction that wants to attack humanity is the Storm, which the humans don’t even know exists yet. Heck, attacking humanity is a side objective to releasing the Didact.

> Servants of Abiding Truth are doing the same thing the Insurrectionists are doing, they wish to overthrow the current government. In the case of the SOAT, they wish to also then go after Humanity once they have it.

Thel isn’t the Sangheili Government. Nobody elected him, he just thinks he can represent all of Sanghelios to the galaxy. This is why most of Sangheilos is trying to overthrow him. And 'Telcam made a peace treaty with Osman to basically leave each other alone once he takes out Thel. So no, none of the leaders want to attack humans, they are just provoking them to do it.
