Renaming Two Betrayls

As you probobly know 8th mission in Halo CE is named Two Betrayls but there is only One betrayl the one with Guilty Spark, so as the topic says: if you could rename Two Betrayls what name would you give it.

I feel like there actually are two betrayals and we have all just missed something really obvious like how cortana stops chief from activating halo is one ‘betrayal’ even if it turns out not to be

There is another betrayal. The Reclaimer betrayed 343 Guilty Spark, from the latter’s perspective.

Yeah kind of a strange post since there is quite clearly a betrayal from each character’s perspective.

I suppose if you reach far enough it could read that way, but I always assumed that the writing had changed at some point, but the mission’s name hadn’t. Perhaps Cortana was meant to betray the Chief somehow? Or it was just a cool name.

I suppose she was meant to in an earlier phase of story development, but I just figured it was because Guilty Spark saw betrayal in the reclaimer not following protocol by putting a construct in the core, and Chief saw betrayal in Spark when Cortana told him that he failed to mention the destructive capacity of Halo’s firing.

After being inserted into the Halo rings system, the original plan was to have Cortana become drunk with power, as it were, and turn against the Chief. I think Bungie scrapped the idea halfway through because it was too cliché at the time.

I think the idea was scrapped pretty early on for it to just be a last minute leftover.

I mean, maybe. Bungie are pretty vague about when the scrapped it so all we can do is speculate.

I would call this what is really is…TEAM KILLING!!

Chief betrays Cortana’s trust by following along 343’s plan until he is informed what Halo does in which 343 then betrays Chief’s trust. I think the name fits fine.

I thought the second betrayal were the arrows pointing the opposite direction of where you were supposed to go.

The second betrayal is the invisible sword elites on legendary that come up behind you while you try to get the banshee. I think the name fits well  !
