Timed Respawn is such a boring intermission during a match. It takes away from the rush of the fight. Is it possible to swap it with instant respawn or at the very least create a playlist for it? It wouldn’t take away from the competitiveness, it would add to it.
I always thought of it as more of a chance to get your bearings before you’re put back in the match at a respawn point. Instant respawn I feel like would result in a lot more spawn kills because you take a second to process that you were just killed and are now somewhere else on the map. Allowing the player to do this without being physically on the map is a benefit. Although I definitely agree that any respawn timer of more than 3 seconds is too long and detracts, which is unfortunately common in objective game modes
It’s a punishment for being killed and it also always for map movement to set up map control, get a power weapon or get the objective.
Removing it would hurt balance
It gives me a chance to make adjustments and select weapons if it’s firefight.
It´s a punishment for being killed or comitting suicide, I like it. Also you can change your equipment during the match (ex: Halo Reach)

Removing it would give no penalty to dieing and be more cod like. Halo death is a punishment and gives a window for the other team to get the flag or plant the bomb if your team loses gun fights
You get to see enemies nearby after you die and waiting to respawn, removing respawn time will also remove that advantage.
It’s done with purpose. That aside, you can utilize the time to gather information based off your teammates screens while your on death screen.
Capturing flags would be super hard without it
As others have pointed out, the reason there’s a respawn timer is two-fold. First, it’s a punishment for dying. Second, it rewards the other team for getting kills with map control and allows them to push for the objective.
Removing respawn time in match made games would remove the punishment of dying or killing yourself while also removing the advantages of learning where enemies are rushing next through a allies pov and to gain your bearing to plan. Instant respawn leads to games like CTF and assault turning into a constant wave of enemy players assaulting a singular objective overwhelming almost all the time since the time to kill in Halo is a bit longer than a instant respawn game like cod
I mean what’s your penalty for dying? Also it gives you a chance to regain yourself after a mistake.
If respawn times were lowered then it would fundamentally alter gameplay. In a negative way too.
I think the respawn time is actually added to give other players a reward/breather before you come back to fight, and also to avoid bad spawns for the person respawning or the person fighting. It’s a brief intermission. People can spawn right where they died, so if they do, what was the point of killing them to begin with, besides a point?
I think the only way to really make this fair is to make it sort of like COD. Where you are forced to take at least a 4-6 timer and then after that you can press “X” to respawn in. But, if you need more time you are given it.
