Removing player customization for 360 reach?

343 could you share more info on this? Player customization is a huge feature in reach. Simply making us stick with default armor forever is terrible. Atleast let us customize our offline spartan for campaign.

Edit: let us keep our ranks too! I played reach for over 10 years and got inheritor a while back. It would be terrible to lose all my armor and legacy.

Yea, I’m actually really confused on this too.

I have two ideas what it means:

  • Worst case scenario is that every spartan and Elites become grey or black and go completely default. This happened several times when Bungie did maintenance on Reach. - And a better case would be that that it just won’t update online anymore and some of the pieces that require waypoint will be unavailable. Since the game does offer offline customization there is a chance we’ll still get something here.
    I’m leaning more to the former unfortunately. I have a bad feeling were all going to become grey or black default. What a fitting way to grieve our loss.

That’s true, but I’m thinking that since the game won’t recognize our ranks due to the server shutting down, we’ll only be able to change our armor up to a certain point since you can’t buy/equip certain pieces without the appropriate rank. However I’m not sure if all our previously unlocked armor will still be available to us in the armory after the server is switched off, but even if it is there’s still the issue of the game not recognizing our rank as being high enough to wear something.

Yeah but several times when there was maintenence or an issue on the server and whatnot, I and others were reverted back to recruit so that’s why I’m thinking this.

That’s a good point, I forgot that ranks reset along with the armour.

Exactly what im worried about. I understand that the mulitiplayer will be gone since its aged bad compared to mcc, but i still played this game for 10 years and after insane amount of grinding i got to inheritor and i want to keep my rank.

You can rank up and unlock armor offline, but I guess if you go online it may mess up your rank and armors. Hopefully 343 addresses this further. If you really can’t change armors anymore then there are tons of softmods out there that unlock your armor and since matchmaking will be offlne I don’t see the problem

Likewise for me. Getting to Inheritor was probably my greatest gaming achievement and I’d hate to lose it to the abyss forever.

I’m hoping that come sunset time, 343 add some sort of legacy stats to our profiles on MCC, even if it’s just something simple like a rank or similar, so these things can live on forever beyond personal screenshots.
