So the most recent update from 343 confirmed that the classic magnum and shotgun will not be in Infinite (at least at launch).
Why on Earth would they do this? Did we not already go through this with the removal of the classic rocket launcher? In the post by 343 they stated they are returning to the classic art style and then the next thing they say is they are removing iconic classic weapons? How does that make sense.
343 mentioned the weapon sandbox. Adding more weapons is a good thing, and many games do it without any balance problems. You can always remove a weapon, it’s much harder to add one.
You could have the new Bulldog be the less damaging but rapid fire shotgun and the classic style be the slow firing but hard hitting one. And that would work fantastically and add positive variety to the sandbox. Same goes for the Sidekick and the Magnum. More weapons, not less. And if you’re gonna do less, then go for the classics. The same thing happened in Halo 5 with the rocket launcher. Why make the same mistake twice?
What I don’t get is that they preach about returning to the classic Halo art style and yet remove classic weapon models, remove blood splatter, weapons and such don’t even look like metal in comparison to Halo CE.
It boggles the mind what they are thinking.

It boggles it even more because we already went through this with Halo 5 and they eventually added the SPNKR rockets (although just for MP). And they straight up just ignore requests for blood splatter. I get being a dev for a IP you didn’t create is hard, but if you want to make a different game just go do it and let Halo be Halo. Halo can evolve, but it’s core needs to be Halo.
Well, at least the Spnkr returned like a month after launch and the two models had neat variants to justify the two being in the game. I don’t see why the Bulldog and the Shotgun can’t be together in the game since they functions are different. Same goes to the Magnum in Halo 5, the Tactical and Gunfighter had their niches to be filled. Why this can’t be the case for Infinite too?
And the Sidekick looks terribly generic, at least put some lights and the guard and there we go. What are they thinking?

You’re right. There is no reason why they can’t be in the game together. I mean, look at Halo 5, how many variants of just the BR are there? Like 10? But 2 shotguns which look and function differently can’t be in the game. Okay.
I’m stunned. I can’t believe they’d make the same mistake twice by replacing classic weapon models with generic counterparts. In any case, the addition of weapons like the Halo 2 beam rifle and the SPNKr rocket launcher in Halo 5 prove that the studio isn’t above adding weapons to the sandbox that are completely redundant for the sake of fans, so I guess we might as well just try to get on it early this time and make our voices heard now so we can hopefully get the classic weapons back sooner in the live service update cycle than we did with Halo 5.

It honestly feels like they’re doing horrible stuff on purpose. “Oh you want classic designs?, here’re graphics that look 10 years old. That’s what you wanted right?”. “You want the SPNKR and BR? Here you go, we changed everything else that you didn’t mention to some weird new design though, hahaha”. It’s like getting undercooked food at a restaurant but instead of the chef cooking it a bit longer for you when you send it back he instead burns it to a crisp, or like an evil genie that looks at community feedback and finds the worst possible way to make their wish technically granted but ultimately awful.
I just don’t even know anymore, guys. After reading their latest Community Update here, my optimism has even went down further south. I just want to be finally happy again with the Halo series, you know?
