litterally the best thing 343 has done so far with halo 5 is lift the region lock for australian players. I can actually find FFA games now and am loving this game so much more.

Good to see you guys Down Under can play again. Halo should be for everybody.
Played my first dozen of WZA games today, it’s slightly laggy and frustrating but it’s better than the alternative.
Yes very pleased region lock has been lifted. Every playlist works now and not just between certain hours. The lag is noticeable as you would expect but far from unplayable all the way down here in platinum. As long as we’re placed on the west coast server farms its OK and really the alternative of not being able to play is much worse.

ikr, 343i should of taken it off region lock much sooner and to be honest, the lag isn’t even that bad in arena. I’m still getting perfect kills which means my shots are registering. There is only a slight delay in grenade throws and melees. Warzone on the other hand, there is still some rubberbanding going on, but that’s expected with 24 people and AI.

If you want to be competitive, and not just hope you get a kill by the luck of the halo gods, removing region lock is not good.
You can play, but you can’t expect to win unless the other 3 Americans are good and you just hold on for the ride.
The lag is terrible.
I can see even more people moving on. I’m happy you guys are happy but if the lag continues people will stop playing.

If you want to be competitive it’s impossible now for european guys.
So make the -Yoinking!- filter optional -_-
I know many people that quit this cause the latency against american people.
Why in gow ultimate or i gow4 beta i can play with 40 ping and in halo i have to play against americans, that have 10/20 ping, with 200 ms? WHY?
I could play everyday anyway but hey!!! Faster search times!

I disagree, right now I’m playing against onyx players from the US in FFA and lag is the least defining issue as to why I lose. Also, the Australian halo population is way to low to have competitive matches, once you get into diamond division, matches take to long to find and I don’t really find bronze - platinum matches to be competitive.
I completely agree, it’s great to be able to find matches in any playlist, and play whenever I want.
i completely understand the complaints people have about lag, and it’s true that it is hard to be competitive in a laggy match, but it’s even harder to be competitive if u can’t find a match at all.
Hopefully 343 will continue working to implement a better solution, but in the meantime I’m grateful not to be locked out.

I mostly disagree. It’s great now games of FFA and Warzone Assault are available, but for Arena games, which we rarely ever had trouble finding until well late into the night, it’s now almost impossible to play competitively, especially when coming up against quality teams. I don’t think the region lock should be re-implemented by any means, but unless a few more options are added to matchmaking searches this will definitely effect a nice % of the regular teams on Team Arena most nights.

Yep I can confirm that WZA is now playable, for the first time since release amazingly. Well over a thousand matches across Arena and Warzone and I just might have managed to hit double digits on WZA matches played last night … been a while in the making.
like I’ve said multiple times its not all good. 343i needs server selection urgently because there is so much lag now. Even in playlists that with region lock on you could find games without lag.
Cool, now I just want region lock for the UK…
