I am dumbfounded at the fact that they would remove some of the best and most skillful medals from H2/H3/Reach not to mention some of the most fun ones to try for.
I’d like to go through and find all the medals that got removed and some cool ones they added…oh wait i can’t do that because that nerfed the medal chest and made it some -Yoink!- backward of viewing them, but that’s a whole different story.
Why they heck would they remove the grenade stick medal? So people wouldn’t have to try to be skillful with them? or the Sniper Headshot medal?
And the one the infuriated me and is making me dislike the game so much more, my heart honestly sank after i noticed that they removed specific weapon sprees (Shotgun Spree, Laser Spree ect.) i wanted to cry, that was possibly my favorite thing in the entire Halo series, it was super unique and unbelievably satisfying to get a Be The Bullet, or a Buck Wild or a Sunburst, and it took some serious skill to get them, and it really gave me something to shoot for since they removed TrueSkill.
But i honestly cannot think of a single feasible reason for them to remove a single one of these medals,
I wish the Yoink medal was in, but i can at least see why they’d remove that, but the other ones there is no excuse for them removing them, and they can’t say it was too much work because all the medal art and names were already made. A quick filter on photoshop and it would look just like the H4 medals (Okay not that simple but still very simple).
I’ve already gotten a perfection in halo 4 (and many more to come) and am sad that no perfection medal pops up at the end of a perfect game anymore.
It literally is the single best medal in a Halo game to me. In halo 3 and Reach I earned hundreds of these. Perfect matches having the perfection pop up at the end was so satisfying. Now when I go 15+ and no deaths all I get is a perfection commendation pop up and no announcer saying the most epic words in halo: “Perfection!”
I can deal with them adding stupid medals, but removing good ones? No, just no. No sniper headshot and sticky metals is unbelievable. The only medal that I’m happy is gone is Yoink, in Reach it made people seek out assassinations in order to end them.
i dont think they should have removed any metals at all they should just add them only one im glad thats gone is yoink it always ended with me putting a shotgun shell in my teammates face…

My number one complaint with the game… just no reason what so ever other than 343 thinks they know better than Bungie. There is nothing fun about 30+ generic medals per game. I don’t even look at them any more. Hell, with all the medals I get it in game it isn’t even possible to tell the ones I am getting when I get them. They come and go to fast because there are so many popping up.
For years I’ve been reading Halo threads and never found a subject worth posting on. This is. The plasma grenade was the reason I started playing Halo in the first place, and to receive a medal for it was a source of pride for me. Everyone has their favorite weapons and game-styles that the medals complemented awesomely in the previous games and it was always one of the best parts of the franchise.

I feel the same my number one favorite weapon in any Halo game is the Energy Sword and sticky takes a close second and both of them were robbed of good classic medals.
I definitely agree that they should not have taken out the stick medal. Sticks have always been one of the most satisfying medals, and i always sought them out in the previous games. I still will, but the lack of medal makes it so much less satisfying.
It also kinda irritates me that it even tells you when you got a stick, but it doesn’t give you a medal. If they already went through the effort to tell you when you got a stick, why not give out a medal? If anything, at least make it a trackable stat.
on a related note, I really miss splatter sprees.
Yeah, the removal of the stick and sniper headshot medals is extremely annoying. The most ironic thing is that I just started to get good with plasma grenades in this game, and I don’t even have medals to prove it.
I am glad that Yoink is gone, though. I don’t see a point in rewarding players for stealing kills. That was one of the big problems with Reach. It made me go off and hunt down the person who took my kill, not the enemy team. So annoying.
I bought the official (collectors edition) Halo 4 guide yesterday (£20 feckin quid) and the number of medals in the game is just ridiculous, there’s no need for literally half of them, it’s mega overkill, and makes them now feel kinda cheap when you see just how many there are.

Exactly… mostly junk. Shot a reloading enemy. Generic kill. Assist. Who cares about that…
I got a perfection last night and thought it may have been a glitch that there was no “Perfection” at the end or a medal. I can’t believe they have taken this out. The addition of pointless medals began in halo 3 with beatdowns, progressed to all sorts of silly medals in Reach and is now truly pointless.
