Remove Words from Center - Sexism?

There are many of us who believe that the words in the middle of the screen are pointless distractions. They interfere with where I’m trying to look, they alert me of things that I already know, and they worked just fine how they were in Reach in the bottom corner.

I don’t need to know that I got a “Kill! +15” or “Sword Kill! +10”. I know already because 1) I killed him… and 2) It says so in the bottom corner feed.

Isn’t this what medals are for? Letting us know what we did? We can all agree that Reach took it too far by introducing the “Player A killed Player B with a Headshot” text into the feed, which basically ruined Splitscreen play. Why add more?

Further reason to remove it is because it is sexist. I’ll look for the video, but when one player stuck another with a sticky grenade, it said “Stuck Him!”. I’m not a female, and I usually wouldn’t give two craps about this, but it can be used to convince 343 to remove the feature altogether. (I know this is the stupidest argument ever, but the inclusion of the text is also terribly stupid.)

Remove it 343. There’s no point in having it.

How do you know the “Stuck Him!” tag doesn’t change to “Stuck Her!” depending on what the person chooses as their Spartan’s gender?

> How do you know the “Stuck Him!” tag doesn’t change to “Stuck Her!” depending on what the person chooses as their Spartan’s gender?

Oh God, I can see it now…

“Stuck him!” - meh…
“Stuck her!” - -Yoink!-!!

Gotta love how mature gamers are these days…

Its a new design with a new setup. All its going to take is getting used to it. Besides, 343 can’t control what you pay attention to, whether its on the center of the screen or bottom left/right corner. People also complained about this kind of thing when Halo Reach beta was going through and how they enjoyed the notion of seeing a “______ killed ________ with a headshot” format. They liked the change while others disliked it. This is the same argument a few years later. My recommendation is to get used to it.

> I don’t need to know that I got a “Kill! +15” or “Sword Kill! +10”. I know already because 1) I killed him… and 2) It says so in the bottom corner feed.

It isn’t about whats being needed, its about doing something new and fresh. The design and format is fine. Another thing to note is we don’t know if this is customizable.

Medals are whatever you want them to be. If you use medals to determine what you did, than that is your way of utilizing them in-game, personally, I’m more a text guy when I see “PhNx Hellfire is on a killing Frenzy!” rather than the simple medal.

  1. It isn’t stupid.
  2. This is a problem with the U.S. in general is taking things to a sexist level when the intention was the opposite, so thanks for bringing it up.
  3. That is not being discriminatory towards any gender in any regard of it. It’s irrelevant if someone thinks it is on the grounds no one at 343 will ever endorse a message which translates to that on purpose.

> Remove it 343. There’s no point in having it.

I’d rather they kept it in.

Double post.

If the Stuck Him did change gender wise, would it be bad if my Spartan was a dude and he got stuck and over the mic I hear somebodies thing say Stuck Her?

This is why Spartans should have bulky enough armor to not be able to tell gender.

Political Correctness out of control.

Fully agreed, or at least the new ways people are seeking attention by focusing on real matters and turning them into something pointless such as a debate over the use (or lack of) him/her in a videogame ^^

OnT:
Actually, the new “in your face” method got some good points. First of all, splitscreen or not, you always get your info right in the middle of your crosshair, always where you look, not down in some obscure corner.
Secondly, it clearly tells you the points you earned as well as medals, again without having you look away from the “important part” of the screen.

I think it’s hilarious ppl are bothered by it saying “stuck him!”

who cares lol

Headshot +15! O really? I would of never known aiming for the head would result in this. It’s stupid clutter added to the game, which has no gameplay benefit.

Really though? It saddens me that someone got paid to say “Hey guys let’s take this text from the side of the screen and put it in the middle!”

But you don’t get it; it’s 343. If they don’t do everything differently, people will think they’re still Bungie or something. How terrible!

It is pointless.

It is pretty obvious when you stick someone. Chances are the medal will pop up and in the killfeed thing too.

Anymore notifications is utterly annoying and unneeded.

Well said. I support everything he has said and the points are just reiterating the mundane, the commonly known, the totally un-special. I wish this had more support!

As for the gender thing… Sexist… well, let’s just ask 343 to be more specific because spartan genders can be different than just all males. a reasonable request to me.

Watching it in a video does it no justice.

Having played the game, I can say that honestly, I like it and it really isn’t distracting.

its a video game about people shooting each other in the face, and in some cases humping a dead body, and you’re worried about some in game text?

It’s just a new feature to get use to. It’s not that bad of a thing actually because you have it right there and you don’t have to look to the bottom for anything cuz it below your reticule, plus it’s not that big.

4 month old thread.

Timber’s is a waypoint forum troll.

Don’t feed him. It. Whatever.
