> There are many of us who believe that the words in the middle of the screen are pointless distractions. They interfere with where I’m trying to look, they alert me of things that I already know, and they worked just fine how they were in Reach in the bottom corner.
Its a new design with a new setup. All its going to take is getting used to it. Besides, 343 can’t control what you pay attention to, whether its on the center of the screen or bottom left/right corner. People also complained about this kind of thing when Halo Reach beta was going through and how they enjoyed the notion of seeing a “______ killed ________ with a headshot” format. They liked the change while others disliked it. This is the same argument a few years later. My recommendation is to get used to it.
> I don’t need to know that I got a “Kill! +15” or “Sword Kill! +10”. I know already because 1) I killed him… and 2) It says so in the bottom corner feed.
It isn’t about whats being needed, its about doing something new and fresh. The design and format is fine. Another thing to note is we don’t know if this is customizable.
> Isn’t this what medals are for? Letting us know what we did? We can all agree that Reach took it too far by introducing the “Player A killed Player B with a Headshot” text into the feed, which basically ruined Splitscreen play. Why add more?
Medals are whatever you want them to be. If you use medals to determine what you did, than that is your way of utilizing them in-game, personally, I’m more a text guy when I see “PhNx Hellfire is on a killing Frenzy!” rather than the simple medal.
> Further reason to remove it is because it is sexist. I’ll look for the video, but when one player stuck another with a sticky grenade, it said “Stuck Him!”. I’m not a female, and I usually wouldn’t give two craps about this, but it can be used to convince 343 to remove the feature altogether. (I know this is the stupidest argument ever, but the inclusion of the text is also terribly stupid.)
- It isn’t stupid.
- This is a problem with the U.S. in general is taking things to a sexist level when the intention was the opposite, so thanks for bringing it up.
- That is not being discriminatory towards any gender in any regard of it. It’s irrelevant if someone thinks it is on the grounds no one at 343 will ever endorse a message which translates to that on purpose.
> Remove it 343. There’s no point in having it.
I’d rather they kept it in.
