Remove the sword from ranked

Why would I want to make the game easier for myself?
I don’t come to ranked to play causally

So I guess you don’t strafe, use rockets, OV and Invis and and don’t do flag juggle, huh? Sorry but this thread is just utter dumb…

nothing more to say from my side…

Control Power Weapons to dominate the game, this has always been what Halo is.

His stats are weird. He’s somehow onyx but has a negative KDA which tells me he probably boosts.

That’s called a scrub mentality. Play to win and stop making excuses.

yep, my thoughts as well. as i said… just some salty complaints due to lack of counter tactics

I play ranked and FFA. That’s it. Definitely not boosting.

Also KD doesn’t matter when I go through a ton of games with quitting and lagging out players.

It also doesn’t matter when I win games and still go negative because I was focusing on the objective like holding the ball the whole match.

Sorry. I don’t play like coward

Ohhhh so now I’m boosting because you don’t like my opinion. How rich

The sword only spawns on one map, I think, in Ranked. And there are only 3 game modes you play on the map in Ranked: Slayer, Stronghold, Oddball. You either leave the area the Sword user is at alone, or Nade(Frag and Plasma) the crap out of the Swords immediate area. I personally have no issue with the sword. You either control possession of the sword, or you don’t.

The only Power weapon anyone could complain about in Ranked is the Cindershot; there is no escaping that weapon. If the enemy knows where you are you are dead. It also has a generous magazine size and reserve ammo for how easy it can kill. I don’t think the Repulsor works on the Cidershot projectile.

But this is the main problem on that map:

  • both the repulsor and the sword is closer to one teams spawn then the other.
  • the safest route to get the sword is through the bottom (it’s about as fast, but you won’t face enemies who from a distance see you going to the sword and already shoot your shields down), but that is also the route where the repulsor is.

This is a problem, because the Repulsor (the only real counter to the sword) is therefore often already in the hands of the sword carrier. The Repulsor spawn location must be relocated and a little bit closer to the other team for balancing issues.

Don’t speak common sense to this man. I tried. He won’t budge

The proximity does present a bit of an issue, Cobra team does have advantages for both repulsor (6 seconds to 10 seconds) and the camo/overshield (5-6 seconds to about 8 seconds).

Both teams have about the same distance to cover for the sword. (11 seconds running) and grapple is about the same distance between the two as well (9 seconds).

While it’s not a symmetrical map, a team with clear advantages is going to have the upper hand in this case at least right off the bat.

My argument covered progressive gameplay, but starting spawns does throw a wrench into the mix. Repulsor could be moved to the Control Room just behind the pillar for Eagle for a more evenly distributed start. This also doesn’t take into account combat between the points either which could also be a determining factor.

People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

I’ve been top 200 in the world for years. I know bad when I see bad and the sword is bad. It shouldn’t take paragraphs to explain to you that’s it’s bad ( for ranked )

Pretty easy to do when the last publicly known Halo 5 population stats put it at less than 150 players.

Top 200 isn’t as impressive when it’s acquired by default.

From our dialogues, I think you should get your eyes checked.

Well as someone who’s apparently a god tier Halo star, it should be simple to explain it to someone as lowly as myself why it’s bad without much of a counter argument. Or at least recognize that players are in fact using the repulsor as a counter to the sword.

That is simply not true. The Long Hall spawn is closer to the sword then the elevator spawn. I already noticed this from normal gameplay (so without even testing the times), since every time i sprinted towards the sword the enemy would already be sprinting across the hydroroom (where the sword is) when i only have that room in sight (and thus are not in that room yet).

But now i did some testing, these are the times i got from sprinting from the spawn locations to the sword and the 3 items:

ELEVATOR SPAWN:
Sword: 11.36 seconds
Repulsor: 10.05 seconds
Grapple: 8.83 seconds
OS/camo: 7.27 seconds

LONG HALL SPAWN:
Sword: 8.93 seconds (direct route), 9.30 seconds (via the repulsor)
Repulsor: 4.92 seconds
Grapple: 9.58 seconds
OS/camo: 5.56 seconds

Differences:
Sword: 2.43 seconds (Long Hall), 2.06 seconds via Repulsor (Long Hall)
Repulsor: 5.13 seconds (Long Hall)
Grapple: 0.75 seconds (Elevator)
OS/Camo: 1.71 seconds (Long Hall)

So the Long Hall spawn is clearly closer to the sword and repulsor and also to the OS/camo. Elevator spawn is slightly closer to grapple.

Years as in. From the beginning. Not the last two years of Halo 5.

I’ve been explained everything to you. Even someone else explained perfectly to you that the repulsor isn’t always the counter because of where it’s placed.

What? You want me to show you clips of people coming around corners and lunging a good distance to get the kill? You want me to show you the people who hide behind corners with it in objective? You want me to show you the invis players with the sword?

It’s op. Br,br,br,br then BAM. Sword.

When I use the sword it proves my own points. I literally run through the whole team because there’s nothing to stop it AKA garenteed kills.

The sword is pretty annoying to deal with. The same thing can be kinda said about rockets, but the ammo counter is what makes it less of a big deal. It’s basically 2 guaranteed kills unless you’re absolutely just terrible at using them. (Some people are terrible with the sword too in the same manner) Other than that though…like literally shooting the ground by someone or a wall gives a kill. Maybe it’s just more that you can get too many kills with sword? Where you basically can find yourself die a few lives in a row to it, whereas rockets you see on the feed that 2 separate players have died from rockets at 2 different times and know for sure they’re out of play. Like…you can also keep track of kills per sword spawn I guess too. Idk.

A refresh to power weapons on the map at the halfway point of the season would be a cool way to spice things up and create new strategies for the maps choke points and whatnot. Idk about the other weapons on the pads, but the major power weapons for sure would make the game more interesting in the meantime with the whole lack of playlists.

Idk about the complete removal of it. I can’t say I’d miss it…but…definitely a refresh would be cool imo.

Not only that. With a rocket you can counter it by getting close (so the holder of the rocket launcher also kills hemself when he fires, forcing a draw in that firefight) or if you use the repulsor you can turn the rocket back and kill him with it, you can’t do that with the sword ofcourse. That also makes ‘beating’ someone with a rocket launcher easier then a sword carrier.

OP is mad because the Metal Gear Rising players are proving that a cybernetically enhanced soldier should wield a sword and not a gun.
