…and add MLG V7 maps and game-types to Arena.
I guarantee this will revitalise the competitive community, as well as the Arena population. We need something to carry Reach onward until Halo 4 comes out.

Or remove Arena and add an Arena ranking system to the MLG playlist and not confuse everyone.

Same outcome really, just call it “MLG Arena” and have of of those information-things that pops up the first time you play after an update.
They aren’t going to remove MLG. Actually, 343 doesn’t have anything to do with MLG other than the fact that it’s in Reach. The MLG Playlist is actually controlled by Major League Gaming, and they decide what changes to make to the playlist. 343 has no say in the matter.

343i can remove the MLG playlist as freely as they want.

I think he was more pointing out that the maps, gametypes, and the choice of ranking is in MLG’s hands.
343i of course has total control of removing the playlist or not.

Thought so, just the way he worded it made me think that.
I like how people think 343i have no control over the MLG playlist. No, it’s that they let MLG have control over it. At any moment 343i can just replace all gametypes with Infection.

343i may have the power do to so, but that doesn’t mean they can.
They could have a contract for using MLG’s name (or in this case acronym). You never know.
This would be good for MLG and Arena. And that would be one less playlist. So ya, someone make it happen.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. I guess I probably could’ve worded that better.

Thank you!
…for telling me nothing whatsoever that was unbeknown prior to your statement.
This thread was more to see how much support there would be for this, rather than an order to 343i.
I would love and loathe this idea.
One the one hand, the MLG list will become more competitive and more fun.
On the other hand, searching good connection probably won’t work and search times in general will go through the roof.

You’re very welcome. Honestly, I can guarantee there are quite a few people who want to play a Ranked playlist, but don’t want it to be as competitive as MLG, don’t like Zero Bloom, or want to play with Sprint or Hologram. Arena may not have a huge population, but it’s high enough that there’s no way 343 is gonna get rid of it.
I just want more then 1 ranked playlist …
Halo 3 has 6 ATM
Reach has 1
Failure
Reach is done as a competitive game and MLG should not be losing money on it because the series has far less potential than many PC-based games.
If Microsoft/343i are willing to back Halo 4 it should be considered but subject to the same cost/benefit analysis other games are subject to prior to being on the circuit.
I have all the current generation consoles but even I can admit there’s much more competitive games on PCs that should be given the limemight and that can actually be profitable for MLG.
MLG is a business.
MLG gameplay is nothing like arena gameplay.
Bad idea.
> MLG gameplay is nothing like arena gameplay.

Well I wouldn’t say that. It’s still Arena… if Arena games were about limitations… and everybody who played Arena games hate all weapons…
I think a better question is…
Why hasn’t MLG requested Arena rankings for the MLG playlist?
343 made it clear, adding the Arena ranking system to ANY playlist is actually an easy thing to do.
That tells me that MLG doesn’t want arena rankings, but why?

They made a big push (MLG) a few months back for some sort of ranking system on the MLG playlist, 343i never responded to it other than a comment on their request for 1-50.
