Remove Sword Base

To put it bluntly, Sword Base is an awful map. In Team Slayer, games devolve into incredibly dull, campy games, or one team decides to feed the other team kills with the infamous yellow lift. In Team Objective, the Red Team may as well just have the victory off the beginning with it’s proximity to the objectives and power weapons. In Multiteam, it simply becomes a chaotic mess of a map filled with grenade explosions and no clear way to set up and gain objective time or kills. In Living Dead…yeah, let’s not go there.

Therefore, I do believe it is in the game’s best interest to simply just remove Sword Base from Matchmaking rotation.

Agreed. Death to Upper Gold Lift/Red Vent Campbase.

Lol Derp Base and the vents. Though the map isn’t that good in my books, i still laugh at the noobs who keep going up despite knowing there is a guy with a shotty or sword killing them over and over and over and over again.

You don’t need togo into yellow room and red lift, you can manoeuvre around the map with out accessing these rooms.

I’m not gonna defend it, the map has flaws i only like it because of it’s arsenal of weapons.

Nuclear war isn’t a bad thing. Just stay away from the affected parts of the planet.

That’s true. Use Reachs very high explosive grenades to Yoink! stuff up.

Too bad grenades don’t hit the corners of yellow lift room, no matter where you throw them from.

I agree totally. Any half-competent red team can dominate the entire game.

Not to mention the nade launcher and sniper punish those that think staying in the lift rooms is a great idea :wink:

Yeah? Go up against good players while you’re on blue team, win, and put the clip on your file share.

Yeah, Sword Base and Countdown are my least favorite maps in Reach’s crappy map selection.

Ive had some really good games on sword base where the yellow lift is central, but not a noob trap. Ive had some terrible games where some Morons cant help themselves from going in.

It just depends.

Why does Reach have only a small hand full of decent maps?

Oh I know, b/c they tried to build maps around poorly design gameplay elements.

I assume its really campy in arena? That would make the map terribad.

I don’t think reach even had a handful of good maps. I much prefer good forge renaissance to the ones that shipped. DLC’s weren’t too bad.

High level play on Swordbase is not only susceptible to camping but setups are near impossible to disrupt thus the entire game is decided in the pre game lobby, Red Team wins.

Tempest is by far the best medium sized map in Reach, hands down. Almost like a mini Valhalla.

Tempest, like Boardwalk, is a BTB map. 4v4 is just painful to play on Tempest.
