I play BTB to fight big battles and drive vehicles not for the game to end in seconds cause people dont play objective hell was in a game last night and we were against a really good team they were deadly together and we managed to work together nearly won just needed one core they still needed 4 but the cores glitched into the mountain and we couldn’t get are last one we worked really hard we even held the area they were supposed to be we thought we earned this win but then they just zerged us at are base a took are cores and we spawn to far away from base to stop them cause they were all there and if we went to their base they would already have are cores in hand and back

I like stockpile - keep it in

Not true, I’ve warmed up to it personally and I have several friends who actively enjoy it. It just requires some team coordination. Recommend doing with a group of friends.

I will say it does get kind of buggy sometimes with the seed spawn, so if they get that ironed out that would be good.

I like it way better than BTB CTF.

It needs to reworked. Halo Reach introduced it, and I’m not sure it was popular there either, but the main differences were:

  1. The Seeds were flags
  2. You set them in a zone, not a machine
  3. Stealing was simpler and quicker, you didn’t have to hold X for 30 seconds
  4. Points were scored after a set amount of time, any flags in the zone counted. So you could earn many or few points.
  5. Flags didn’t spawn in one big pile.

There’s probably a few more, but I can’t remember right now. Spreading the seeds around would be the first big step to improve the mode IMO.

I liked Reach Stockpile a lot, and Speedpile. I still play them in MCC. The low gravity map was always a good one. However, that was a 4v4 variant. BTB is a hassle if your team is worthless, because I can only juggle up to 4 cores by myself. No amount of carrying can make up for 11 useless teammates doing nothing or doing their challenges instead. The game might be better as a 4v4 mode. I believe 343 can make a 4v4 Stockpile using these cores, and it might be more fun, just chucking cores into a Strongholds circle instead.

I’m not a big fan of it, of the 5 matches I played of it, I only won 1 of them. The other 4 were literally us getting all but one core placed, and then hearing the Spartan announcer say that our cores have been stolen. We look back to base and see them all piling them into a Razorback to speed off to their base and no one can catch them because they’ve stolen all of our vehicles.

Not a fun experience, but I tough through it whenever I’m stuck with it.

Yeah, it was 4v4, but I’m sure it could’ve been set up for BTB if Bungie really wanted to. Also a thing I forgot to mention is how vulnerable the core deposit is. It’s completely exposed to snipers all 3 maps. Not a problem if you want to stop a capture, but it is an issue with want to be sneaky and steal one. You’re just standing there for like 20 seconds hoping everyone on the map doesn’t see you.

Yeah, that’s the issue with Assault, Attrition, and BTB Stockpile, in 343 games. You’re just stuck standing there like a moron, waiting to get headshot for 20 seconds. In Bungie games and Destiny, you can still move, crouch, and shoot while staying within the hold X to capture area

Kind of wish it was like the loot caves on Fragmentation. Hold X for a second, then let your AI hack the deposit, while you defend for 30 seconds. At least I’d have some agency.

Edit: I had a stroke typing this =|

I still hate having to be locked standing there to drop the AI, but yes, the general idea of standing within the capture zone while able to defend yourself, is far better than standing still locked in place. The worst gameplay decision since being locked to Flagnums

Eh, I argue, removing 1-hit melee from flags and balls was worse. Just a sitting duck with “Kill Me” advertisement above your head.

Yeah that is pretty stupid. Luckily I can still back smack and ninja with the flag and ball, but who at 343 said it would be a good idea to nerf the one hit?

I get they want us to drop it and shoot to defend ourselves, but 9/10 times, the defender gets shot first, so there’s no winning most fights. Why take away the only CQC defense the flag and ball had, if people are supposedly intended to not approach them up close in the first place?

Having that one hit would give people the incentive to not approach the carrier, and shoot them instead, so the carrier would have to drop and shoot, because nobody would approach for the one hit. Now we just have stupid laggy hitreg punching fights anyway, with two hits.

Exactly.

See, I’d believe 343 wanted me to approach ball defense like that, but then they’re asking me to get ball kills for challenges…

Need to put in at least a modicum of effort to make a thread
