Remove Skill Based Matchmaking from social games!

Just because i played halo for years and im decent doesnt mean i have the time or the will to sit infront of a computer screen for hours and hope to get into a game. Not even mentioning the game that i will possibly get into will be absolute garbage because i will face myself every single social game. I feel like im being punished for playing well and the game puts me in sweaty lobbies when all i want to do is relax for once in this -Yoink!- game. Its called social for a reason instead of ranked. Oh also if you are decent at the game the team balance in some games will be trash as the game will expect you to carry the noobs from your team to victory. What they forget though is that halo is a team based game. Even if the enemy players are a little less skilled than you they can team shoot you and delete you while you watch your team get slaughtered with ease in the process because you are expected to carry them. Who in the world designed this hidden mmr system and put it in social games. When you put the time and effort in becoming good at a game you should feel that you’re good or above average. This system completely removes the fun aspect of social and makes every single social game feel sweatier than ranked LMAO.

If you’re that desparate to ruin someone else’s fun, just make a smurf.

I just don’t think being good is ruining someone else’s fun. I think it is part of gaming. You should be rewarded for being good, and you should feel that you are better than the general population.

I get it, new players shouldn’t be stomped every game, but I also don’t think players should be punished for getting better at the game by making their matches exponentially harder; for me there has to be a happy medium between the two.

Anyway, I think it’s very subjective. Some prioritise fair and balanced matches as the pinnacle of matchmaking, others want to feel progression in their results as they get better and to experience a skill ā€˜journey’. I fall in to the latter camp.

lMAO complaining for not being able to find games is equivalent to being desparate to ruin someone else’s fun. Jezus where do these people come from

Is solo kbm playlist that dead? I thought this was about social. Restart your game if it’s taking ages to find one. Usually get a game in any playlist, any time of day in under a minute and my MMR is pretty high.

What??? You realize we’re not talking about ranked playlists right?

I feel the same way. You play more, you get better, you can beat most people. This never was a problem for people in older games. It became a challenge to become that person that can do just as good. As a bottom player going into a new game, this was not a problem for me in any game. I never heard anyone complain either and I’ve been playing video games for a very very long time.

This whole everyone has to suffer through sweaty matches and no one can be left behind if they can’t get better is a dumb system. majority of players aren’t having fun, and playing ppl behaving the same way, and every match feels the exact same from one match to the next. It’s a bad system outside ranked play. SBMM needs to be very loose in social.

I will not change my opinion on this because I haven’t seen an argument good enough defending the position. I don’t believe the ā€œit’s better for player retentionā€ either. How do you even measure that? I know a lot of friends have stopped playing more because it’s too sweaty. It’s not that we don’t enjoy tight close games, it’s the FREQUENCY of matches that are played that have you going against the same exact people. I’ve been going against the same 3 ppl in my matches recently!

How come you’re waiting for hours to get a game? I don’t understand. That can’t be right in social.

You literally just made a post about wanting SBMM removed.

The alternative is connection or random based MM.

Which for good players is literally game after game of stomping the general population.

SBMM works. It make the game fun for everyone. And I feel they have nailed it in Infinite.

Dude are you completely clueless how the matchmaking system works and yet you defend it? In social there is a hidden mmr which indicates your skill level outside of ranked. It can be higher or lower than your rank. If you have high hidden mmr the game tries to find players at your level to make every single god dam.n game sweaty. This results in extremely high queue times.

Absolutely disagree. Just because you are good at a game doesnt mean you want to sweat your bal.ls off every single time you play the game. Thats what RANKED is for.

iTS CALLED SARCASM

Nah. Some of my games get lopsided as it is. I wouldn’t be mad if sbmm was a bit tighter.

Some of my best memories playing Halo were tight photo-finish social BTB games in Halo 2 and 3. Gimme more of that.

Disagree right back at you.

Just because you are good at the game doesn’t mean you get to chill your bal.ls back on every time you play a game.

That’s what… I don’t know. Something else.

SBMM is so that everyone can play on a level playing field. Most people enjoy close and competitive games.

Some only seem to be able to have fun stomping players way below their pay grade. And don’t seem to care. It’s their God given right to do so!

You need to work on your sarcasm.

I’m a higher rank than you bro.

Matchmaking don’t take that long and social ain’t even that sweaty.

How you gonna go 23-6 in Fiesta and tell me that’s sweaty. You’re perspiration incarnate.

You want even worse players to play against? Why??

And I honestly think that the lack of consequence for the result (you aren’t grinding for rank) really allows you to enjoy it.

I thought it was a bit tight pre-updates they made. Social feels way more casual now.

dude its not about the rank its about the hidden mmr. No one complained about ranked being sweaty.

My brain, whatever size it is, can switch between sweaty and chilled.

My definition isn’t as narrow as winning is chill and losing is sweaty.

I’m more than happy to approach the different playlists with a different mindset.

Point is social should not feel as sweaty or more sweaty than ranked. I m having trouble finding games to the point where i use my double xp and i only get to play one game while its active.
