Remove respawn timer

Respawning in this game takes way too long and its so boring to watch it count down every time.

The only mode that should have a respawn timer is ctf, and maybe something like plant the bomb (assault) which i dont even think is in this game.

Other than that there should be no respawn timer in any slayer or other objective game modes. I know halo has always had respawn timers but that does not make it good or right. It is an outdated mechanic that leads to boredom and pointless waiting.

There are some things from the past that just need to be let go, and this is one of them.

Having no respawn timer would throw off the spawning system something fierce. Think late game SWAT, or even CoD would be a better example; battle lines get broken, the game spawns you anywhere suitable and you just end up right behind the enemy or vice versa or just flat out in the middle of a firefight. Every FPS has a certain “cadence” to it, if I can drudge up some Reach-era terminology. Making minute changes like lowering kill times, change spawn placement or even nixing the respawn timer would have you pulling your hair our sooner than later. Just chill for a bit and conjure up your next plan of attack.

I think the awnser to this is simple: no keep it in reduce timer for non objective modes but keep it the same for objective modes

The respawn is an essential part of the gameplay. There has to be some disincentive to dying.

I would argue that for some games, such at CTF, it’s not long enough!

Besides… how can you be bored in 8 seconds?

Personally I think it would be very problematic to do that with the current map size; all too often already, I’ll get three or even four kills, only to be killed by the first person having re spawned and thrown a grenade or something before I got my shield back. In other words, someone I already killed comes back and kills me, before I even regen my shield and health. That is seriously frustrating.

Part of the reason this is an issue is because of the terrible radar, bouncy grenades with no indicators, and extremely long shield recharge delay, but turning off respawn timers would only exacerbate the problem. I think they could turn them off if they halved the shield recharge delay, gave everyone only 1 grenade to start, made grenade indicators appear like they used to, and made the radar 25+ meters again. Otherwise, it would be really problematic.

I think the game would just get hectic with no respawn timer. The punishment of dying
and waiting a few seconds seems pretty reasonable. The game is already balanced around
the current timer, and it feels good to me. Otherwise it’d be a nonstop hoard of grenade spamming,
even moreso than it is now.

You can spectate allies when you’re dead, functioning as a passenger to point things out, if you Mic.

Respawn time has many functions.
You get to contemplate how you died (often, this game’s kind of inconsistent at times), and learn from it, getting better.
The killer get’s an advantage for a short amount of time, power play if you will, where they get a few seconds of one player away from the map.
You as victim gets a time out for being beaten.

Instant Respawn in Halo 4 changed how matches behaved somewhat, rarely was there a calm moment after getting a double or triple kill in 4v4 as the dead players were back on the map instantly to put fresh pressure on players who just came out of fights.

No, it’s not meant to be fun to sit in a respawn screen, but there is an idea with having respawn time to begin with.
