“Pro AR” is an oxymoron.
Let me guess: One too many AR users killed you inside his weapon’s effective range?
This topic makes me laugh.
> Let me guess: One too many AR users killed you inside his weapon’s effective range?
Kind of. More like 3 players.
But you’re right about the “effective range” part; the range where you just spray and hold forward.
Nope, Team Slayer Pro is the only place you can use an AR and stand a chance.
enough with the “omg he AR’d me, he’s a noob.”. The AR is FINALLY a useful weapon. Now if the DMR can just be tweaked so it doesn’t ruin btb…

Useful? Yes. I’m not arguing the usefulness of the AR in this game. Does it have a place in BTB? Sure.
Slayer Pro? I don’t think so…
I’d much rather see the Light Rifle take its place. Maybe then it’ll get more use in that playlist.
I dont see anything “Pro” about AR, so i second this.
> Nope, Team Slayer Pro is the only place you can use an AR and stand a chance.
What? The AR is beast in any playlist in it’s effective range. I stayed getting killed by that thing, lmao. The AR destroys everything in cqc. I had to reinvent my strategies and LO’s just because of it.
I dislike the Ar but I could argue that it takes more skill to do well with an AR than a BR or a DMR.
The BR and DMR are way more versatile (The DMR especially).
The BR and DMR are versatile in this playlist. That is good. Adding a weapon that is really only effective in close range as a loadout amongst other loadouts that have all grounds covered doesn’t really make sense imo.
> Nope, Team Slayer Pro is the only place you can use an AR and stand a chance.
Not true. I use it on Infinity Slayer pretty well. Nothing makes me laugh like jumping on someone with a noob weapon like the AR and chasing them down. You can see the terror in their visors when they know they will die so they chuck every nade at you but I guess they didn’t get the memo: NADES ARE USELESS IN THIS GAME.
So… Anyone else want to provide a reason as to why the AR belongs in Team Slayer Pro?
An actual reason, rather than just saying “lol umad?” or something along those lines.

So what you’re saying is you’d rather no one had the option to use the less versatile and, hence, inferior weapon to even the playing field so you aren’t dominating them all the time?
Is that what you’re saying?
Lol.

No, that’s not what I’m saying. I thought I’d change it up from the usual “AR takes no skill” argument and give a reason against it from the sandbox point of view. It doesn’t fit. Also, what do you mean by “even the playing field”? Without the AR, the playing field is even.

Conversely, you have the players in Slayer Pro who run around with the AR and find themselves in this position: rounding a corner and meeting a player with a BR/DMR. AR user knows there’s no shooting his way out and A: turns and tries to sprint away, or B: jumps around mashing the grenade button.
“Pro”

Also not true. If I do by some miracle have the AR and I round a corner and have an enemy in my face, the’re getting mowed down. The AR destroys everything in cqc.
I do agree that it doesn’t belong in SP.

My mistake. I forgot to mention they weren’t in close range, more like encountering a player in one of the bends in Haven.
And yes, the AR really is effective in CQC.

My question is why wouldn’t it belong? It adds another layer to gameplay. You have to worry about more than just five-shots, you have to know how to deal with someone who got the drop on you in with the AR. If you catch them at mid to long range then they’re pretty well dead due to your weapon choice, so what’s wrong with them catching you at close range and having an advantage based on their weapon choice?
The AR is considered a “n00b weapon” because it is indeed new player friendly, but just because a new or less skilled player can use it doesn’t mean they can use it terribly well. I’ve five-shot a number of people who just tried to blindly spray me with AR fire. I’m not the most incredible player in the world, I’m just started to adapt to a world in which the AR is legitimately useful.
Other than something along the lines of “it doesn’t feel pro”, why shouldn’t the AR be in Slayer Pro? Considering 343i has already included the AR in the default loadouts the burden of proof is on those who wish it to be removed to show why it doesn’t belong.

AR will shred in CQC. That BR/DMR user will have no chance with me. I don’t chase in a straight line. Jumping and spraying works wonders.
