killcams can only ever work over LAN because of how the multiplayer works. you never see what everyone else is actually doing but a prediction/simulation of what they are doing, this is because you’re not actually telling the other players exactly what you’re doing because that would require to much bandwith and cause a tone of lagg and appear to be “glitchy”, instead what you’re telling the other players is simple information of where you’re facing, what direction you’re moving and your acceleration/deceleration and so on, there xbox then simulates what is happening based on the information.
all of this is subject to latency and no matter how good your connection is, you’re still subject to latency because of the distance between you and the other players, under LAN there is no latency, well there is but it’s so small that it can be considered none-existent. because of latency, where you see the players on your screen and where they see you are going to be different, either a few steps forwards, backwards left or right, pretty much a delay so you’re seeing where they were not where they are, thankfully though because the hit detection to decide whether or not you’ve hit them is done on your xbox so you will be hitting them regardless of the inaccuracy. killcams show you what your xbox has been simulating so naturally the killcam is never ever going to be accurate, it will always show you the other person shooting out of place because on there xbox, they’re and you are in a different position to where they can hit you but on your xbox they’re and you’re in a different location to where they can’t so what you see is them missing because thats what your xbox is seeing.
the massive discrepancy in the killcam has also given risen to people claiming cheating, because the killcam is meant to show you what happened players are calling cheater because the killcam is showing them completely missing, this is a problem because it creates a big anti-social interaction between players which 343i have been trying so hard to fix and creates a massive flood false reports which could potentially lead to players being wrongfully punished.
killcams have to go, they’re not helpful, they don’t work and are completely counter intuitive. the death cam we’ve had for 12 years worked perfectly fine and added some more meta and strategy to the game, it was something that didn’t need fixing, replacing or removing and now should make a return.
Instant Respawn and Killcam just isnt for halo in the first place…
Real time death and environment, three second to spawn (the iconic triple beep), and watching sullenly as your killer humps your face with his or her codpiece…
> Killcams don’t work and should be removed immediately.
yea… you’d think they would have known this before even implementing it or noticed it during testing because they said they were doing a lot of testing of XBL to test latency issues and such…

It’s not spam. You’re saying that killcams aren’t working and don’t provide help, so I say you can simply skip the killcam.

what do you mean i didn’t provide help? i detailed exactly why they will never work, i’m pretty sure that is helpful.
oh wait, you didn’t read it, you just did a “tl;dr” reply which is spam because it isn’t constructive, helpful or on topic, saying to just “press X” also completely avoids the topic of killcams never being able to work because respawning has nothing to do with how the killcams work.
I’m confused about why there is a killcam OR a deathcam. It just isn’t needed because if you want to see how you died you just load up the film after the match. Simples.
When you are in the game you should be concentrating on what is to come, not what has already happened and anything that reduces lag/latency is a thing to cherish.
I agree that we should have a menu option to disable killcams. I understand that SOME playlists don’t have them. I know in Infinity Slayer they are there. After a few deaths in a row, they get disabled.
I would like to turn them off and wait the three seconds. It helps to have the time to plan the next move. If I want to try a new strategy, that three seconds helps me think about the slight change I will make on the next loadout. Seeing a guy killing me is only a distraction. I know I died. Now what am I going to do about it!?
P.s. plenty of people like it, so they should leave it in. Just let us turn it off in the menu options. Just like everyone doesn’t use Inverted sights, but I do! I would see my Xbox if they took out Inversion COMPLETELY.
