Remove Jetpacks from The Arena. Make Sprint and Hologram the only Loadouts.
lol i don’t even play Arena anymore and i am for this. I am aware of the jetpack abuse common in top tier Onyx play. Still won’t stop them from being crouch walking warriors though.

Nothing though on high level play, every single player does it which slows the matches to a crawl. Keeps them off the radar, theres nothing wrong with that but you’re either hiding or flying in top percent onyx. It’s not very exciting to watch or play, which is why it’s joke in it’s current settings (it’s much better now that it is 85 percent bloom). Oh and Reflection is instant win if you set up right if you are the red team.
Of course those players who get 5 to 1 percent Onyx are extremely good players who could own many of us. I am not trash talking them, just would like to see loljetpacks removed at the very least.
Agreed. I was hoping Jetpack would be removed this season. Hopefully next season they’re gone. Jetpack abuse is used on every map during high Onyx play.
i think its hilarious that jet pack is still in ARENA. arena is supposed to be the playlist for the hyper competitive crowd, and yet, they keep jet pack, the most laughable, imbalanced, joke armor ability in it.
the worst part is we’ve been asking for this since it was applied to arena, and they havent done anything about it.
im afraid they could care less. this is one change that i doubt will ever come, even if its blatantly obvious to every single competitive person playing the playlist (the people who it was designed for) that jet pack is a joke.

Remove sprint and hologram from Arena, make jetpack the only AA. While we’re at it, remove grenades too. I was never good at throwing or dodging grenades so take them out too. Come to think of it, I hate being picked off by snipers, so sniper rifles should go out the window as well.

You can’t break the map with grenades,sniper,sprint, or hologram.

Arena is not MLG. Arena is Arena. They removed jetpack before but I’m pretty sure it was put back in within two months. if anything, they need to add evade back in. Back then there were no problems with jetpack in arena as everyone was rolling around. It seems like that would fix your “slow game” problem.

Let’s be honest. Hologram is useless. It would be sprint only.
jet packers, if you can’t beat them, join them.
if people put some more effort into it then i expect they could combat jetpack …

This is a rather broad generalization. There are a few top-tier teams who play Ace Combat- or Battlefield 3-style, but my buddies and I usually beat them by sprinting in and spawn killing, most notably on maps like Select, Kingdom, and Enclosed. So not everyone plays like you say.
Asylum, however, is different. This map is almost entirely controlled by jetpack. Asylum is the worst for blue team–I’ve seen games won purely by players getting up behind blue-side’s rock spawn. It’s almost impossible to kill someone who does this, as you have to move out into the open and are vulnerable to anyone Ring Two or Red Hut. It gets really frustrating.
And then you have Swordbase and Uncaged, which would be a complete, unplayable mess with out it. Honestly, though, I wouldn’t mind seeing these maps gone forever. And if you take out jetpack, they definitely need to go. There’s no possible way to move across either of these maps without jetpack unless the team you’re playing is really stupid, which leads to clock-ending camp-fests.
And just for credentials, I’ve been 1% Onyx seasons 8 and 9.

Are you kidding me? I remember when Evade was in Arena. I quit Halo for two weeks until it was removed. Yes, it allows for more effective rushing, but it also allows for pretty much everyone you get one-shot to get away. It’s like a portable teleporter. And have you ever seen someone Evade with the Sword? Yeah, it’s terrifying.
I play Gamebattles, and controlling Evade is usually the key to winning most 1v1s and 2v2s. You can always get away, and you can always get behind their spawn with rockets before they have time to move. I can’t imagine what it would be like playing with two full teams experienced with Evade. Probably just a whole bunch of rolling around and not much getting done.

Jet pack just breaks the game. Most top onyx players take advantage of it in terms of destroying map control and make it far too easy to pick out one shots from a far distance (by flying high up in the air). I have never seen a 1% onyx team that did not use jet pack. I would be pretty interested to see what would happen to those players if the jet pack gets taken out.
Lets hope 343 takes out the jet pack so the Arena can actually be played the way Competitive Ranked Halo Reach should be played.

Being a good player does not give anyone the right to be an aloof d-bag who puts other players down with obtuse remarks simply because they are not in the top tier. Nor do they have the right to flame others simply because their opinion is not the same. When a person looks down their nose at others and tries to force the world to bend to their will, it’s a pretty good indication that they have a superiority complex. They desperately want to feel like they are in control of something. Usually because, other than the one trick pony they are good at, they stink at every other aspect of their lives. The superiority complex, I’m sorry to inform you, typically stems from some latent insecurity.

You may be a competent player ( I don’t know whether or not you are, I didn’t bother to look up your stats) however, you apparently lack the mental competence to grasp the point that was being made. If you were able to understand it, surely you would have been able to articulate an actual reply instead of a terse childish flame, one that could have reflected you are more than just an average dolt with a superiority complex. I treat you the way you set yourself up to be treated. Proclaiming that the game is fine b/c you have no issue with it is ignorant when you show you have little experience through your posts.
I don’t want the game to be catered to me only. I want it to be catered to every single type of player b/c it CAN. I hate Living Dead and Action Sack but I know how to make it balanced and thus more fun and I know what settings need to be tweaked and what gametypes are needed. All I want is for the game to be competitively balanced b/c at its current state it is not… the only Halo game to date.
