At least in custom games, currently CTF and Extraction do not have instant respawn, but Oddball and Koth do.
It makes no sense and it ruins those gametypes; this is what these gametypes are with instant respawn:
throw your grenades at the objective
sprint at it and shoot anyone there
get some points then die
instant respawn with new grenades, a full clip and full sprint
repeat steps 1 through 4 for the entire game.
I mean for matchmaking its fine, and can be pretty fun. But when you wanna have a game with a bit more meaning, you cannot. It fully ruins the potential that Oddball and Koth have in terms of rich and interesting gameplay and I want to know why we don’t at least have an option to turn this off in custom games?
You guys are familiar with MLG, they put on some good tournaments to watch but no way are they going to be able to use Oddball or Koth now. Its going to get stale fast with only TS and CTF.
This one tiny detail can fix that though.

Would love for this to be taken out, if it’s with CTF I don’t see why it can’t be done with Oddball and KOTH. Don’t want another repeat of Reach and MLG, that would suck.
This is probably my biggest frustration with H4, I’m not liking the instant respawn as it makes it impossible to set up on a map and gain control of main points!!!
It’s a case of kill then they respawn instantly and know where you are and come kill you before your shield has recharged!
Other than this I like the game, it’s just needs a few kinks ironed out!!!
Yeah, the Instant respawn is one of my main problems with MM. There’s no point in map control anymore because of it. Personally I think it just needs to be taken out of Halo 4 entirely. But I would LOVE the option to take it out in Custom.
