Remove friendly fire from Grifball

For whatever reason 343 decided to include friendly fire in Grifball. You really think that this won’t a problem? First of all, there are going to be those players out there who betray their teammates until they ruin their team’s chances at winning. Second, I don’t know how 343 doesn’t expect there to be accidental betrayals when everyone is wielding Swords and Hammers. Seriously, your teammates are going to bite the dust sooner than later. Since everyone is going to betray at least two of their teammates each match, your chances of getting booted are increased. Combine that with the awful banhammer and you’re forced not to play Halo 5 for a given amount of time.

So please, for the love of God, remove friendly fire in Grifball. Unless you want to ruin one of the greatest modes in the game, I suggest you listen to your fans.

Removing friendly fire from Grifball breaks the gametype, you absolutely cannot do that.

They are looking into removing betrayal booting, I think, which is the better option.

I’m curious as to why betraying your teammate’s benefits the game.

It does give the game some life, and some reason to stop and think before swinging your hammer into a group of your teammates.
Imagine in an Arena match both teams were fighting in a small spot, and you had a rocket launcher, you would wipe out the enemy team and yours would be untouched, the friendly fire gives some thinking to do.
It’s different for Grifball but I think removing the booting is a better option, than turning friendly fire off.
I think using the Hammers you could also potentially boost the ball holder for example further distance without causing him damage

I think this needs to 100% be done. Ban hammers being swung like crazy.

Betrayals should remain. Its always been a thing in Grifball matches.

Your last point there is the only reason why I agree with you. Once you think about it, if friendly fire was turned off then you could probably give your ball carrier a boost out of the court and into the map. That would definitely course some inbalance.

But yeah, at the very least betrayal booting must be taken out. I have absolutely no idea as to why 343 decided to leave that in.

Removing friendly fire means there are no repercussions to simply running and jumping over your teammates’ heads and having them hammer launch you to the goal every time.

Then, what if you’re on the wrong side and need someone on defense but you can’t betray them to let them respawn? Then what? You’re SOL while your plate is wide open.

Betrayals are a necessary, and yes, sometimes tactical, part of Grifball.

While I agree with you about betrayals being tactical, you can’t do this right now. They need to think for at least 5 seconds before releasing these things into the wild. Same goes for the fact that you can get over the walls. I understand that this is a bug, but hey have to test that before it’s released. This isn’t the first time that game breaking bugs have been in Halo 5. As we speak people are able to phase into walls in Warzone: Assault, making offense impossible. 343i have been terrible when it comes to troubleshooting issues, and this goes as far back to the MCC. It’s not like it’s a new thing.

The walls worked during testing. Pushing the update out broke the invisible barriers. Obviously no one wants a broken/exploitable map but sometimes -Yoink- happens. It’s not as simple as pushing a button to fix it and while it may look like a quick and easy patch from the outside looking in, it’s quite a bit more complex on the dev’s end to fix stuff. But they know about the exploits and are working on fixes for them. There’s literally nothing else your or I can do about it at this point.

The rest of my post was about why turning friendly fire off is detrimental to the gametype as a whole.
