Remove Flag Auto-Pickup

I understand the change to CTF in giving the flag carrier a pistol, and for the most part like the general theme of encouraging people to grab the flag. What I find frustrating, and I’m sure you’ll agree, is accidentally walking over the flag and picking it up when you don’t want too.

Give us the OPTION to pick up the flag, don’t force it down our throats. I play in a team and one player is by and large much better at grabbing the flag than others, particularly on Husky Raid. So why, when I’m clearing out their base with a Fuel Rod, do I suddenly have to pick up the flag, lose the advantage my team had, and get mobbed by the respawning players? Losing the probable flag capture in the process.

By the way, in response to a response, it’s easy to say “just don’t walk over it” yet a lot of the time you don’t and the area of affect the flag has forces you too anyway.

I agree 100%.

I love the idea of being unable to drop the flag once you pick it up. It makes you think twice about when you should be running a flag.

However, auto-pickup is problematic. If you’re forced to carry the flag indefinitely it is best to give you a choice rather than having you pick it up on accident (as is often the case).

I think there’s some gametypes(Throwdown only though?) that have objective auto-pickup disabled, but it sounds like you’re referring specifically to Husky Raid’s flag, in which case the Action Sack feedback thread would be best to state this - https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst194757_Team-Action-Sack-Feedback.aspx

As for Flag pickup itself… shrugs It doesn’t make any difference to me honestly.
