Remove FF and Betrayals from ALL gametypes

I’m sick to death of team-mates betraying simply because I got to the Mantis or Sniper before they did. It’s not fair that they can ruin a game for you due to petulance on there part. The betrayal booting system is broken in my opinion. Sometimes you can boot that player after one betrayal, other times they need to kill you 3-4 times before you are given the option.

I’ve grabbed the Sniper and am defending our flag while a few buddies are getting the other teams. I get double melee’d in the back and watch as a teammate grabs the sniper and teabags me for good measure. How is this fair? It’s got nothing to do with situational awareness etc. It is one player being jealous of another and killing him to gain what he has.

The main argument I’ve encountered as to keeping FF in the game, albeit in certain playlists, is as follows.

  • It forces players to be careful when , shooting weapons, throwing grenades, driving vehicles and generally be aware of where your teammates are and act accordingly, due to the fact that a stray rocket could kill them as much as an opposing player.

The simple fact is that people usually don’t care.

  • If I’m in a situation where an enemy is rushing after me with an AR, a nearby team-mate doesn’t think, “I guess he’ll kill that guy with the AR, I’ll save this rocket for someone else where I won’t kill my teammate”. He shoots the rocket in order to gain the kill/points, killing both you and the other player.

  • It’s the same with throwing grenades. Spam grenades down hall-ways and into buildings. E.g the bases on Exile, in the hopes of getting kills and to hell if a team mate dies.

  • In my experience, teammates don’t drive around you, they go through you. Before someone mentions situational awareness on my behalf, it’s not always possible. I’m sprinting to the laser on Ragnarok from my base, it’s the initial spawn and both teams want control of this power weapon. A teammate with the same intentions as me, will drive straight through me, grab the weapon, leaving me at the respawn screen.

Thanks for reading this guys, any input appreciated.

It should be removed from most game types, but not griffball, its always been fun in Griffball

I don’t think it should be removed… that is one of the reasons, why the game types are “pro”. Well, I know what you mean OP. A lot of people really don’t care about it, and I got betrayed a lot because of my power weapon or ‘camping’ (I’m not a CQB-Guy with a sniper, you know?).

On the other side, if you play with a good team and not with some randoms, this feature is really cool and makes the game way cooler.

But I agree that the booting system needs a little adjustment. Some people betray me several times for weapons or out of fun (so cool to betray a SR-130) and I can’t boot them, but I get booted because of an accidental betrayal, because some random walked straight in my Wraith shot I fired in the base on Vortex.

About Grifball, there should be some new Grifball types, like one with ff on, one with off, and one game type with only one life per round

I’ve not played much grifball so I couldn’t really comment regarding that playlist. More than anything I’d say the booting system is inconsistent.

I struggle playing with teams simply because I’m at university, most of my live friends are, and we struggle to find a time when we’re all available to be online at the same time :stuck_out_tongue: About people I don’t know maybe I’m just unlucky.

I agree about the sniper part. It’s a long range weapon. I’m not good enough to run in and no scope people left right and centre. Hanging back with one and playing passively doesn’t give people the right to betray you for it or because they think you’re “kill-farming”.

And I’m tired of teammates running in front of my shots and standing on my grenades with no consequence. They should all have FF like Halo has always been.

the only way to elevate this is to KNOW who you are playing with, and even then, trust no one lololol

taking all betrayals out of the game for random, i aggree, would help all gameplay be much more fun, as if fun needs to be much more lolol…

99% of this happening are reasons of immaturity which is a rampant lifestyle in today’s population of age. a mature manner of this is either an accident or a payback from some other issue but it can be just plan evil liars getting there due. i.d forward that info to the government for tagging to the homeland security to investigate. oh, sry, that is a wikileaks leak. lololol they already are… lolol talk about an easy way to tag mental illness.

see how i put in all those tagged words lol whoo hoo lolol

Edit: nevermind

I agree 110%, Im sick of being betrayed for a either a weapon, vehicle or just for no apparent reason. Then worst part is it ruins your spree, for example on ragnarok I was doing 24-0 and ready to hit untouchable, but until comrade stupid decided he desperately needed the sniper rifle and betrayed me, not only was I furious because my killing spree was demolished, the fact that I wished it was slayer or some other gametype, I mean come on, why put FF on some playlists and not put it on others? for me CTF is where I am stabbed in the back 90% of the time. You’d think your fine scoping in until your shield goes down and your body goes flying at the hands of your own teammate. Its ridiculous.

You can’t expect people to “not run in front of your shots or stand on your grenades” and use it as a valid argument for FF. They shouldn’t be punished because you’re throwing grenades at there immediate vicinity and don’t have time to get away.

Halo has always had this problem with betrayals and it’s never been solved or fixed. Sorry but the “Halo has always had FF” just doesn’t cut it in my eyes.

I prefer it the way it is. If you -Yoink! up and throw a nade into a group of 3 teammates and one enemy the enemy player should be given the chance to pickup one or two cheap kills because you made the wrong play.

It does get annoying at times. However, when someone blatantly steals my well earned assassination and without any enemies around, they’re getting one extra death on their K/D, even if it gets me booted. Letting a thief get away sours my core, even just a simple kill.

Yup been happening a lot lately. You get a good weapon in your ordnance then a team mate who is jealous betrays you for it >.<

If someone betrays me for my vehicle or gun, I’m just going to hound them the rest of the game. Piss 'em off, get them to betray, boot.

Friendly fire is already disabled in some gametypes (Team Snipers for one). I agree though — friendly fire sucks.

I think it should be disabled in all non-Pro gametypes. This way, it’s still there to force players to be aware, but only in gametypes that skilled players enjoy.

> If someone betrays me for my vehicle or gun, I’m just going to hound them the rest of the game. Piss 'em off, get them to betray, boot.

I love doing that too! Some of them are smart though and will make sure not to put that final bullet in you, but have an enemy do it instead so that the TKing doesn’t count against them.

I remember this one time someone betrayed my friend, so he got the guy to get into a Gauss hog, and drove it off the cliff.

I miss the old Infection in Reach. Betraying in that was fun.

I don’t understand why friendly fire is off in SWAT. I realise its OSKs but its also probably the playlist in which you’re least likely to have to fire at a teammate (i.e. when the teammate is in CQC with the enemy).

I am absolutely against turning off FF, however I have rarely had any issues with betrayals. You should not be able to throw grenades(/fire rockets/inc cannon) into a mix of enemies and friendlies and know that only the enemies will be damaged.
