I wasn’t talking about the BR only. I was more referencing commando544’s comments about Halo 3’s sandbox philosophy being fully adopted into Infinite.
Obviously changing the BR isn’t a big deal as the latter change, but I still hold the opinion of the BR being fine where it’s at.
And for the record, I’m not telling him to go play H3 because a simple BR change. I’m saying that because he think Infinite’s entire sandbox is trash and wants to see changes to it as well to better reflect H3’s sandbox.
If he wanted that, he could’ve simply asked 343 for an H3 Playlist.
You’re asking to reduce the projectile velocity on a weapon that already has the slowest projectile velocity of all BR’s from all previous Halo’s. Reducing it’s projectile velocity any further would inadvertently reduce it’s round per minute as velocity is determined by the time the firing pin hits the bullet to the time the round exits the barrel.
Obviously in the real world there are more factors such as, bullet grain, barrel length, barrel twist, etc… but in video games it’s easiest calculated with just time.
Infinite’s sandbox is trash, and I don’t think Halo 3’s is really any better. I find them both to be flawed in very similar ways and I don’t believe there is really much philosophical difference between the 2.
343 talked a good game prior to launch but it never amounted to much with the final product, Infinite shares many of the same types of issues as its predecessors, but I digress.
Even if Commando did get their Halo 3 esque sandbox(whatever that’s supposed to mean) that does not turn Infinite into Halo 3. They don’t want a Halo 3 playlist, they want Inifinite to be better for them than what it is currently
Changing certain aspects of Infinite to be more like older games doe not merit being swept away to a separate playlist on its own. But at least you are now admitting these are preferences instead of camouflaging as speaking for the people.
Because 343 lacks a Promethean mindset.
Which is ironic because their first new enemies were the Prometheans.
Prometheus was the Titan of Forethought.
Epimetheus was his brother, the Titan of Afterthought.
343 Industries thinks only of “this can be cool, lets do this and see what happens. Other games do it so it should work fine” and they don’t think to themselves “would this alteration make the game worse and anger our target audience?”
Halo 4 and Halo 5 Gorbians were full of such thinking.
And sadly, Halo Infinite as well.
Go find one.
Scroll through the forums.
I want to to find at LEAST three more where people have complained about the Battle Rifle in Halo Infinite.
Enjoy this impossible task.
Camouflaging? Okay let me clear something up because clearly you are misunderstanding some things.
Many people, including me, happened to like the gameplay changes to Infinite so obviously we’re going to speak on it. It’s not rocket science. It’s called having an opinion.
I never said I’d be against having a H3 themed playlist. In fact I said this exact thing early on.
Nobody is complaining about the gameplay except a select few and nobody mentions the BR.
Changing something that’s already good is just going piss off even more people and even if they did make this change, who’s gonna be around to play it?
This ain’t gonna bring people back.
So what is this supposed to be?
Yeah, it may make you happy but what about everyone else?
Or this?
Both of these statements and posts frame your position as somehow being in step with what’s left of the Infinite fanbase while dismissing the OP’s or my concerns as not thinking about “everyone else”. Now the pretense is dropped.
I never said were against a Halo 3 playlist, that’s actually the problem. OP made a suggestion and now you’re trying to stuff it away in a separate playlist rather than actually confronting the idea being presented. What do you actually like about the BR as is?
Because I’ve seen plenty of complaints about how its too easy to use, how its too easy to use at range, the recoil leads to easy headshots, but making it a bit more difficult to use, especially at range, is going to take away that special Infinite magic?
The BR is completely fine. What I don’t get is why you need the BR to be more difficult to use.
Where did you draw this conclusion from? When I use the BR, I typically don’t even try to 4 burst opponents. I just drop their shields using the Plasma Carbine and finish them off with a quick burst.
Recoil isn’t gonna stop that from happening. Is this about nerfing the gun or just pure aesthetic? A lot of this conversation seems to revolve around H3 and it’s balancing philosophy rather than what’s truly best for the game and it’s players.
Last time I checked this was a video game. Reduce projectile velocity to 180wu/s and uncheck any flags that speed up the projectile for the first tick.
It would reduce crossmapping, reducing pressure and making the BR more likely to be acceptable as a default weapon in non-ranked gamemodes.
It would also increase the skill gap, leading to healthier gameplay and a more vibrant competitive and social community. ( removing recoil also helps )
I like how you tried to appeal to the people who hate BR starts in social. Anyhow, I don’t really see how this stops crossmapping. Once they relearned what most learned during the Halo 3 days, you’re back to square one.
I don’t even think you cared much for the crossmapping that went down during those days so a weaker version of that rifle shouldn’t even bother you.
There you go again, comparing a non-arena shooter’s rules to an arena shooter landscape.
Man, 343 would just LOVE to hire someone like you back when they were first setting up shop.
Allow me to elaborate with an edit.
Battlefield is a franchise that is all about super-sized maps. They attempt to go somewhat for realism when it comes to bullets, so at certain distances bullets drop due to gravity and they lose damage effectiveness as that distance is increased for the bullet to travel.
Halo is a franchise of small maps when compared to the likes of Battlefield.
And damage remains even all throughout the shot’s travel from point-A to point-B, with gravity only effecting projectiles such as the Skewer, Mangler, Grenade Launcher, Concussion Rifle, Brute Shot, Fuel Rod Cannon, and the Cindershot.
The two projectile statistics of Battlefield and Halo don’t mix.
The reason I say that 343 Industries would’ve loved to have someone like you on the team of developing Halo 4 is because that early on, 343 wanted to add anything to Halo 4 to make it unlike Halo.
They specifically hired people who either didn’t play Halo or didn’t like Halo so that they could bring in “new ideas” to change it into something it is not.
A low-speed projectile weapon makes sense in Halo ONLY when it applies to things larger than bullets and not propelled by a Rail-gun type configuration.
You mean hit right on the nail? H:I BR is nowhere near the level of strength of H3’s. Why all of a sudden do you care about projectile physics on a inherently weaker gun with half the RPM of it’s counterpart?
The BR ain’t crossmapping people. Looking through the scope and hitting that far is something a skilled person can consistently do. Let’s not forget that the once the red reticle turns off its hardly ever hitting anything.
You pit the BR75 vs BR55LB and the long barrel will win everytime. It’s fine.
Worked pretty well, nobody crossmaps on Valhalla. If it’s that big of an issue then reduce the velocity down to 120wu/s.
Yeah it’s way better and more harmful to the game.
It’s rate of fire is the same lmao.
Are you sure about that.
Putting a dot over a body and clicking is not as hard as doing the same thing but also leading shots, Infinite’s BR is braindead.
The H3 BR will lose everytime on account of not needing to lead shots and not having random spread and not requiring good aim due to awarding headshots for bodyshots.
