Removal of Spartan Charge and Ground Pound (Arena)

As someone who plays H5G everyday I would not have a problem with the removal of “Charge and Pound” to be honest I have never really used them. I think keeping some form of “Sprint” and “Clamber” would be fine as these two abilities really help mobility and add a dimension of “verticality” to the arena. Though I have to admit “Sprint” is something I only use intermittently, I am not constantly sprinting around the map like a rabid ferret. Compromise is the best way forward for Future Halo Games.
I would leave the abilities as they are in Social, Campaign, Warzone and Warzone Fire Fight as these are more fun type game modes and less sweaty than Arena… Peace

I respectfully disagree. I use the charge all the time and the pound, every now and then… But they don’t detract from the game in any way in my opinion.

The problem with the charge is that it gives random sprinting and recklessness a chance to beat good gunplay. It should at least be taken out of competitive.

I think Spartan charge should be taken out of ranked play… Ground pound is fine IMO… But I suppose charge and pound can stay in soical/warzone.

Again, I disagree. It’s not an unfair advantage since everyone has the ability. I’d be in favor of having maybe a playlist without Spartan abilities in ranked. That would be an interesting concept. I think it should stay in all the base playlists though.

I don’t think it needs to be taken out. Tweaked so it takes some form of skill. And longer animation perhaps. Something so it’s not a sure kill just because you like to run around

Spartan Charge should be removed from the franchise entirely. As mentioned above it takes away from skilled gun play, plus it just isn’t fun. Ground pound can stay in my opinion as it does require somewhat skill to actually get a kill.

The animation already takes quite a bit to come back. If you ever charge head on the opponent can easily out skill with a return melee and a quick head shot. It’s for this reason I say it doesn’t add recklessness to anyone but the person using it for head on attacks. Half the time they are used head on, it doesn’t work out for the person charging.

However, it is extremely useful to use it to charge someone from behind as you can use it very skillfully to flank and charge.

These are just my opinions and I know they’re going to be varying in the community but I say this to maybe bring up some things other may not have though of.

When the game first came out, I thought the same thing (it’s not useful and its reckless) , but perhaps maybe it’s just you hasn’t learn to use it in a skillful way yet. All I’m saying it don’t use it just because you can, use it when it’s actually useful and then you may have a different opinion of the mechanic. Again, I’m in favor if a new playlist without Spartan abilities. This can really add a different dynamic of play. I don’t think it should be removed from the main playlists though.

I don’t think a mechanic that multiple people agree does NOT take away from skilled gunplay should be removed entirely. It sounds like you just hate when people charge you… It can be dodged ya know.

I’d say that the people who say that it doesn’t take away from gunplay are themselves charge-spammers. Charge has not only a ridiculous range, but a charge:

  • Can’t be stopped by getting shot - Is very, very fast - Has a ridiculous knockbackThis makes the charge a very broken melee move that oftentimes will beat skilled gunplay. If it’s not the charge itself that kills you, it’s going to be the disorientation caused by the knockback. Charge is a mechanic that promotes recklessness over gunfighting, and it does that with a powerful, fast, and disorienting attack.

Both should be removed imo, advanced mobility ruined the game, its just so unnecessary. Clamber is meh, but the others are just a “get out of jail for free”

I would light the Great Rings to extinguish the life of Spartan Charge.

Salvation for all!

Spartan Charge is a cheap shot, I will admit… The only reason I ever used it, was to get the commendation, It should be kept in campaign only and not multiplayer. Sprint, Ground Pound are nice to have.

I disagree. Sprint has caused a major divide in the community since Halo Reach, and should not be in Halo.

Plus, the radar has a very short range so when you see the red dot on the screen you already are being charged and is almost impossible to evade, they could increase the range of the radar only for the spartans sprinting and gorund pounding to make it easier to evade. in that way the abilities are more situational and less spammable.

I hate the spartan charge, hate to use it and hate every time is used on me so i would be fine without it in competitive play.

I agree I don’t think they should be in ranked either. It takes no skill at all to do and it has a lot of range

I’d have to disagree. I’ve tested this out as well. Unless you hit them the same time the hit you, you won’t win. The time it takes you to hit them and shoot them in the head is longer than for them to come out of the charge and shoot you in the head

Just because everyone has it doesn’t mean it’s a good ability.

You’re seriously blaming his skill? At this point, I think it’s safe to say that we’ve seen all the skillful ways to use Spartan Charge and the skillfulness of it doesn’t outweigh the negatives.

I’m sure if we did an official poll, the people who want it removed would astronomically beat the people who like it and want it to stay. Being able to dodge it doesn’t make it a good ability.

Just because everyone has it does not in any way mean it is fair. There have hundreds of videos and posts showing why Spartan Charge is a problem. The game would only benefit by its removal.
