Am I the only one who feels the shoulder charge got in the way more than anything? It seemed any time I was about to assassinate or just finish someone off by sprinting to close the gap and meleeing it just got me killed. Personally I loved all the other Spartan abilities, but this just seemed like an easy way to give the enemy a kill. The fact it does no more damage than a standard melee mixed with it’s very long time between attack and being brought back into first person made it a nuisance. Am I alone on this?

It is both an offensive weapon and another nerf to sprint in that you cannot run around at full speed like a fool and melee everything that moves without making yourself vulnerable. Sure, it could be more powerful but remember, there’s balance to think about here as well.
I didn’t like how it got in the way of assassinations, but that’s really all. Don’t mind the rest
Hardly used it and only got 1 or 2 kills with it, so I can’t really say it got in the way or anything.
Still, it does seem more gimmicky.
Scratch that, I agree with the guy 2 posts above me.
I didn’t a get chance to play the beta but, I was totally unaware of the shoulder charge until now. Going to look for a vid of it on Youtube now.
ground pound was worse. that instead
I lost lots of kills that were supposed to be normal melees because I charged past my target through no fault of my own. It either needs to be first-person or a one-hit kill.
I like the shoulder charge. Its basically a regular melee attack, but a bit more cool. You have to aim it a bit better, sure, but you are sprinting after all. I vote that it stays.

It was annoying the one or two times I went for an assassination. Its fine.

Halo 5: Guardians…
Shoulder charge is fine as is. Keeps people from sprinting around and meleeing people without having a drawback and if utilized correctly can be effective, is you know an enemy has taken some damage and is turtled down Spartan charge is effective. Its also easy to counter as you can melee the charging person and finish off with a headshot as the mechanic itself leaves you open after you use it. Its great for situational kills.

Hey Hotrod, you just hit Spartan rank?
(I may be very late on this, but I just now noticed the signature.)
Anyway, yeah, agree with your post.
Its basically assassination. Cool to use, but in reality its unnecessary.

Exactly this.
They’re all fine. They’re balanced to the point of perfection and they all have a con to using them. Sorry but they aren’t going anywhere and plus it’s too late in development to throw it all out and start over from scratch.

It’s perfect for nerfing the effectiveness of sprint as it pertains to melee. Like previously stated, without SC, people could just run around and assassinate/backslam enemies with no difficulty. Assassinations in Halo 4 were far to easy to get as it was (the only pain was the long animation times). I’m fine with shoulder charge being as it is.
Yea, I wish shoulder cahrge never existed.
Get it. =0
It seems a bit pointless. Maybe just have it be a toggle on/off kind of deal.
Shoulder charge needs to have something else going for it. There should probably be a stun factor which decreases enemy movement and sensitivity for a couple of seconds along with disabling the enemy from meleeing too. The cons far outweigh the pros or really a lack thereof, and I don’t want it to be nothing more than just a gimmick.
