These have me worried. How many maps in the final game will be original and how many will just be tiny redesigns of other maps? We already know 6 maps are used up by Warzone and more will be used by BTB, so that leaves us with thr medium and small arena maps left. Let’s say we have 4 BTB maps, that leaves us 5 medium and 5 small. How many small 4v4 maps will be interesting to look at and play on while the others are just copies or renditions? I really feel like they should leave remixes out of the final game. I would very much like to play on a unique map everytime I hop in and not play basically each level twice.
It’s too late.
Halo 5 will launch with a selection of new and remixed maps.
Still have no idea how people think remixes are the same. They played differently enough to be unique maps in my book. Do we know if the BTB maps ship with the game? I mean, it would be weird to have maps that can’t be played in matchmaking at launch.
I agree with OP here - I played the beta and really enjoyed the experience overall. But I started wondering when they announced map counts. Essentially, if map count is inflated due to remixes, and the maps we played are final (with minor changes), then we basically have already played the majority of the Arena side of the game (3 new maps, including breakout maps, each with a variant. Then 2 forge made maps, which may or may not be final toward the main count). If that is true, then it would mean that we have seen/played 8 maps, with another added in the video form (Fathom?). That either leaves no room for btb maps, or we have already played the entire competitive side of the game, since we need at least 2-4 btb maps, and the 6 Warzone ones.

Breakout maps were made in forge so we can exclude those thankfully.

Was this confirmed? It would be weird for them to include breakout maps but not include them in the map count.
Do we even know if the remix maps are part of the actual map count? For all we know when we play the halo 5, under maps selection you click truth and than you get truth and varaints like regret.

I am hoping they are not.

How about this. I do have a twitter account and I’ll ask josh and then hopefully he gives an awnser.

Thank you. That would be perfect. That’s really nice of you to do for the community. I am very surprised no one has already done this. It would be great to clear things up. I would like 343 to be straight forward with things like this.

Someone probably did ask but just never got an answer. Josh Holmes likely only replies to a relatively small number of tweets sent to him but I’m not 100% on that. Worth a try, though.

Well I asked and now we play the waiting game. This the only reasong I even have twitter is to follow ans ask game devs questions.

The Breakout “map” was a forge arena designed for Breakout. The two maps in the beta were forged for it.
2 other maps in the beta were also forge maps.
The remixes played quite differently to me. Only Eden and Empire really shared the same aesthetic, though the lighting difference was relatively noticeable. Regret and Truth looked and played very different from each other.

Awesome.
I really want this to be cleared up. I think if we somehow manage to get the communities attention with this question, then Josh Holmes is more likely to answer the question.
